New Earth

Pipe as a literary device

The narration was great. Yes, the word pipe was used a lot, but it somehow worked. I get the feeling that someone dared the author to write a novel and use the word pipe as much as possible, while keeping it integral to the story. Mission accomplished.

Such much pipe

The Narrator had a cadence that is just a bit too slow for my taste. However sped up to 1.15x makes it much better. Overall really enjoyed the story as always. Side note: The word pipe is used over 140 times in this book.

This SUCKED! To put it more eloquently...

The writing is repetitive. I don't need two paragraphs describing how dark a room is, or the color of the wall. Example, a very pale wall that was also very light, as light as an uncooked chicken leg. So light that it was as though the color was removed intentionally (not in the book but may as well be). A very frustrating listen. And like someone else mentioned A LOT OF PIPE. A lot of flash back moments that didn't seem to matter. Just a story about a man wandering around a ship & describing everything he encounters to no end. I want my credit back. Did A. I. write this??? Serious question. I kept waiting for this to become a story & it just didn't. If there is a part 2 I do not even care.
