As if it's not bad enough that I didn't win the reality design TV show I was on, try coming home to a one word note indicating that my 10-year marriage is over. So here I am, a suddenly single mother in my mid-30s, doing what everyone advises me to do - have a fling. Except it doesn't go as planned, so I do the next best thing, which is sit on the couch and mope. But having to provide for a five-year-old doesn't let me stay home for too long. Before I know it, I'm back to dying my hair wild colors and trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life.
Except Tony, the fling that wasn't, keeps popping up in the most unlikely places and won't leave me alone. I'd like to be strong - I'm way too old for him - but he's cute and funny and sexy and oh, my ex is getting married to a girl named Bambi. All I know is the way I'm doing things isn't working. If I want to be happy again, I'm going to need to get a new attitude.

Kira's mom made the story for me ! Her support, wisdom, and straight talk were massive!! Kira was one hot mess after another for someone her age. Smh! Tony was beyond sweet and put up with a heck of a lot from Kira. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.
mom for the win

Lisa Beacom does a stellar job narrating Kathryn Biel's second installment in the ‘New Beginnings’ series, This book centers on Kira, who appeared on a designing reality show with Michele, our protagonist in ‘Made for Me’. The voices are great, the pace flows nicely and I was engaged in the story from minute one. And what a fun concept it is.
The story opens, Kira returns home to discover her husband has left her for a younger woman. Feeling very sensitive and overwhelmed she goes against her better judgment and resumes a flirtation with Michele’s cousin, Tony. The relationship does not proceed smoothly at all and the story follows their journey and ultimately their HEA.
Frankly my problems with this book centre on Kira. She pulls considerably more tears and childish tantrums than her five year old daughter, Fleur. She is completely selfish in all her relationships, and impulsive, mean, depressive and reactive. She does not appreciate the assistance and opportunities Michelle gifts her with and treats Tony like a piece of dirt under her feet. There was nothing about her I could like. Tony should have run a mile. She seemed ugly inside and out and her character was confusing - she has brightly coloured hair and was married to someone tattooed like a biker yet she pretends to be straight and mature. She thought she had established something great with her husband yet he had been having an affair with a girl called 'Bambi' for two years and it appears Kira rarely saw him. She repeatedly states her daughter is her whole world yet she appears to have hardly seen her over the past two years and Fleur's incredible and fun grandmother appears to have done most of the caring. I could not get past Kira to like this book and the way she announced her 'news' to Tony was very disturbing but there were many other strengths to enjoy which carried me to the end of this book when I might otherwise have stalled..
Not to my taste
