Acerca de esta escucha
On an afternoon bike ride in the Blue Mountains Janine Shepherd's life was altered irrevocably. When the champion cross country skier in training for the Winter Olympics was hit by a truck, doctors warned her parents that she was not expected to survive. Even if she recovered, she would never walk again. Coming to terms with her shattered Olympic dreams, Janine focused every sinew of her being on healing. Her fighting spirit was rekindled watching small planes flying overhead. She said to herself, 'If I can't walk, I'll fly.' And fly she did.

Inspirational read
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! THis book is an incredible testament to the power of the human spirit, to rise above one's circumstances. Sure, in a lot of ways, Janine was very lucky to have been given a supportive group of family and friends and an athlete's drive to keep pushing through - not all those in her position are that fortunate - but it is still a wonderful story of resilliance.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Never Tell Me Never?
When Janine passed her pilot's licence, especially at such an emotionally low time in her life.
Have you listened to any of Marie-Louise Walker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not heard this narrator before, but she proves, once again, that Bolinda Audio hires very good narrators - I have a couple of her other performances on my wishlist and hope to read them soon.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! Janine's writing is crisp and clear - what you see is what you get - and Mary Louise Walker's portrayal made me feel like she was in my living room chatting over a cup of coffee. The writing is uncomplicated - perhaps even unsophisticated - which made what could've been either a grim poor-me memoir or a "look at me" billboard into a simple chronicle of events and one woman's determination to pull herself back together.
