This audiobook is such a validating listen. Neurodivergent Teens does a great job of meeting teens where they are—without trying to “fix” them. Instead, it focuses on understanding neurodivergence, building self-awareness, and developing tools that actually work in real life.
The narration is calm, respectful, and easy to follow. Nothing feels patronizing or overly clinical. It talks about things like emotional regulation, communication, sensory overwhelm, self-advocacy, and confidence in a way that feels relatable and empowering.
What really stood out to me is how strengths-based it is. Neurodivergence isn’t framed as a problem—it’s framed as a different way of experiencing the world, with challenges and unique strengths. That alone makes this audiobook worth it.

As someone with ADHD, autism, and dyslexia my struggles come in a variety of forms. My IEP didn't really exist after elementary school and I didn't have most of the accommodations I needed until I got to college, I firmly believe in getting your child tested for other conditions when they have one as they're more likely to have others. When a child's needs go unmet and they don't know they have them they become a life-long struggles. This audiobook takes the cake! You can walk a mile in someone's shoes without ever leaving the room. The reflection quests are super helpful to challenge not only the injured parties thought but to enlighten others.

My daughter has ADHD (predominantly inattentive), dyslexia and dyscalculia. This book really opened my eyes about things that I thought I was helping her with when in fact I was hurting her. I also let her listen to the two chapters in here that were specifically about her diagnosis and it helped her a lot also. This book also gave me ideas on how I can work things out with her and work things out with her school as well when it comes to her 504. This is an absolute recommend if you have a child that is neurodivergent and needs that little bit of extra understanding.

helped me understand my daughter better

This book had a ton of helpful information that was well put together and easy to comprehend. It taught me things about myself that I hadn’t realized as an adult. I never knew my tendency to hide my interests and social shortcomings was masking and I’ve been doing it my whole life. I also have adhd and did not realize that my forgetfulness was part of it. I like how this book presents tasks and questions for you to think about at the end of each section I definitely plan to go back through several of the sections that I really related to and complete the questions!

Excellent resource for parents and teens or anyone who is neurodivergent!!
