Great introduction to NLP

Would you consider the audio edition of Neuro-Linguistic Programming For Dummies Audiobook to be better than the print version?

After listening to the audio edition, I ordered the full print book on Amazon. I am reading through it now... the audio version is abridged, and the print version does have more material. However, it appears that the key elements are included in this audio edition. If you are interested in the highlights/abridged material, this audio version is outstanding (I have actually listened to it a few times now). After listening to it, you can determine if you want more in depth material, and purchase the print version. So, I think the audio is a better buy as an introduction.

What did you like best about this story?

The material is very well organized, provides the information for understanding, then practical steps to apply the information.

Any additional comments?

The book is very informative, and it helped give me a desire to explore NLP more...:)

Food For Thought

Intelligent, thought provoking and insightful. Definitely putting some of the methods into practice and benefiting from them. Have now bought more books on NLP.

Meh

Not very compelling, memorable, or informative. I was expecting more content. I was left disappointed.

Basic Introduction without Much Insight

The book serves its purpose as a high-level overview of NLP. However the diminutive length of the program prohibits the authors from going into depth about any given concept. Some of the information seems dated. This was originally recorded for Books on CD. At the end of the book there is a list of movies that supposedly relate to NLP, but no context is given. The narrator can drone on at time in spite of some really interesting concepts. The insights I got from the book was worth the price, but I'd recommend a friend start with a different audiobook as I'm sure there is better.

Slow start, but full of useful tips

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The first half seems out of place until you reach the second half of the audiobook. I found it focused a bit too much on the self-affirmation side of things, but it did explain why they were relevant.

Any additional comments?

The second half focuses on Neural Linguistic Programming, while the beginning focuses on more general self-affirmation tricks. I bought this audiobook because I wanted to learn more about the inter-personal skills, which it took a while to get to.The reading was well done, and almost too smooth. I found myself almost tuning him out as I drove. I still gave him 4 stars on the reading.

Nothing you don't already know.

If you are a totally self absorbed person then this book will help you. Otherwise, if you naturally pick up on body language and sence how someone is feeling this book is a waste of time. I didn't get anything helpful out of it. Wasted credit.

Horrible book.

Not recommendaable. Comes around the topic very well, bit does not provide motivation to get started at all. The reader is also extremely boring to listen to.

vague introduction to nlp

This book is a nice but vague introduction to NLP, not really applicable.
At the end it says that there is a full version so this must be a summary but that is not specified in the description.

Don't bother

The information provided in this is far too superficial and general to be of use. Wouldn't recommend.
