Negotiation Boot Camp

As a young entrepreneur, who engages in negotiation every day, I highly recommend this book. Great concepts that are so basic in a negotiation are put in to easy listening/reading format. The narration is good but the content is what is best.

Reader John Mayer is a genius

This book contained a ton of genuinely useful information but I especially appreciated the reader’s entertaining, dare I say occasionally deadpan performance in outlining these important principles of business, power and communication. Bravo! Will look forward to applying these lessons in my work and personal life.

Listen to this one atleast once a month.

I have had the pleasure of reaching out to the author to thank him for the great job. This audio book has made me money and has also made me standout respectively among my peers. It has allowed me to interact with people differently and more efficiently. YOU HAVE TO ADD THIS TO YOUR COLLECTION. If you do what he says...you will eventually be a better person. I listen to this audio book at least once a month to make sure, that what I have learned stays fresh in my mind. When I first bought the abridged version I listened to it every day for a month straight. This man knows his stuff. GET IT. It will change your point of view and your life. It will make you confident. If you're in sales or customer service this will increase your intelligence 10 fold. BUY IT...USE A CREDIT...BUT GET IT. I've been in sales for 15 years and I have learned more in this audio book than my entire sales career. When I listened to this audio book I realized...I didn't know sh**

Buy a different book on negotiation.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I would suspect a novice might enjoy it more than anyone who knows anything about negotiation.

Has Negotiation Boot Camp turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

What does John H. Mayer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator did a fine job.

What character would you cut from Negotiation Boot Camp?

The author.

Any additional comments?

I hate to give bad reviews because I can appreciate the work that goes into writing and publishing a book. That said, this book is terrible and I hate to think that novices to negotiation would read this and think themselves equipped to negotiate. This book is full of meaningless platitudes with little, if any direction of what to do. The only thing worse than the platitudes was terrible advice such as "try to negotiate the bill for services". To be sure, you can try to negotiate the cost of services with you attorney, accountant, or contractor after the service is complete. Even if you get a smaller bill you will likely ruin a professional relationship and if you do it a couple times you will get the reputation for this type of behavior. The only reason I'm not giving this book 0 stars is that there are a couple bits and pieces of decent information. The information isn't new or unique, you can find it in any other book on negotiation, but at least they are present here. If you want a better book on negotiation try "Negotiation Genius" by Deepak Malholtra and Max Bazerman.
