Love the fast pace

This is a good book and the place doesn’t drag the sport line out.

I liked the characters I was supposed to and disliked others as appropriate.

I really like Matthew Crow’s narration!

A good dangerous tramp through the jungle

It was fun. This story is easy to fall into and just ride through the action. The world building is scant but enough for you to easily grasp the characters’s motives. I did want a touch more world building. Our main character mentions often how he’s never seen the sky before and I had to wonder about that. Like never never? Is that usual? Unusual for Earthers? And then what problems do such people have when they get to a colony world and have to deal with actual horizons and big open skies?

I liked our main character. He’s a likable dude but his personality is pretty mellow. He could be anyone, really. I wanted a touch more for him too, like some bad habits or a tendency to pick his teeth when nervous or such. Perhaps he grows some personality as the series progresses.

The ladies show potential. However, all of them are introduced as romantic interests first. In fact, the story seems to think their most important attribute is their curves. That aside, the ladies have skills and do the most to keep the characters and plot alive.

The story centers around a crash landing in a forest full of large carnivorous creatures that want to find out if humans taste like chicken. I adore such survival stories. So right away I was invested in the story. There’s enough here to carry my attention over into Book 2. 3.5/5 stars.

The Narration: Matthew Crow had a great voice for Easton Miller, our hero. He sounded a little naive and yet dedicated, just as I envisioned him in the story. I also liked Crow’s female character voices which sounded feminine without sounding like cartoons (a difficulty some male narrators struggle with). Crow did stumble a little over the alien names once or twice. The pacing was spot on and there were no tech issues with the recording. 4.5/5 stars.

Great new world!

What earth has become in the future is probably close to what the reality will be in 100+ years.
What the humans are .... greedy assholes who would willing destroy another planet for their own needs is also pretty accurate.
Loved the human/alien (hybrid) element to the story. Being torn between your two parts.
White never fails to deliver a great story.
Matthew Crow did a great job narrating.

Twists and Turns

Nefertem looked to be the typical story of someone who escapes the misery of the future Earth for adventure on a new colony. But the last half of the novel contains many twists and turns. The colony world has some intriguing inhabitants, both animal and human like, and the author gives the main character a surprising origin. Nefertem : The Awakening is the debut novel of a series.

interesting listen

Easton's journey is an intriguing one. The world invented by the author is exciting and new for me and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to the next book. The narrator had district intonations which I like. He was a bit faster than I've become used to when listening but it didn't distract the story.

A Fast Paced, Futuristic, Alien, Short Story.

This story, being a short story, crams a lot of information into a small space. Starting on Earth, we first learn that much has changed in this future version of our planet.
Shortly the MC is shuttled to another planet where we start to learn more about the story of mankind. The MC is fundamentally changed and is “awakened” into his role as leader of this new world. The corporations that think they own this world tend to disagree and we are ready for the next book.

Very different story line but well-presented and enjoyable so far. We have seen a few different characters come to the front of the story and then disappear. I assume they will play a role later. Narration works for the story being told.

Solid first episode

This is a nice start to a series... but they are shorter than full novels, more like tv episodes And so, in this first book we get to meet some of the characters and to set the stage for the series.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.

Good second book

Another one I wasn’t looking forward to ending. I like the characters and story. A short quick read but very enjoyable. The narrator does a really good job with this story.

pretty good book I really enjoyed it.

it's kind of a cross between Titan, Avatar, Alien, and Lord of the Rings. I really enjoyed it and it left me wanting more.
