Publisher's summary

Sam Walsh is hanging on by a thread.

He works hard at concealing his chronic illnesses and represses the lingering pains of childhood, but he's running out of vices to distract him from his wounds.

Nothing feels good anymore. Not his prize-winning work preserving historic homes, not the family that refuses to give up on him even when he's at his most self-destructive. The only thing he wants is the conservatory-trained chaos he meets in a stalled elevator car. She's the friend he never asked for and can't imagine living without. Then, she's more than a friend. She's everything.

Tiel Desai is not the same person she used to be. She's finally found a place for herself in Boston, leaving the rejection and disappointment of her past behind. She keeps herself too busy to think about any of it, her days spent in grad school and with neurodivergent children in her music therapy practice, her nights devoted to the city’s underground music scene. She's learned how to get by—until Sam Walsh crashes into her world. He up-ends everything and takes spaces in her life she didn't know she had to give.

They find more in each other than they ever realized they were missing.

But finding it might not be enough to keep it—or each other.

A solid follow up in the series. Great narration

The story is mostly about being able to accept ones self as you are and understanding that your quirks makes you who you are. There is much to balance these characters and I think this was writen very well. I loved how the friendship factor was developed and again the family dynamic aspect of this series makes it an even greater experience. Loved the narration!!

outstanding I am in love with Ms. Canterbary

I am in love with Ms. Canterbary' s writings. I have listened to the first 3 books and have purchased the entire Walsh series (which h I can't wait to get to)primarily because of the way she developes her characters and the way she uses the English language in turning a phrase in pop culture and history needless to say well researched. All the characters you get a sense of wanting to be in their family or at least a friend like Nick, so again , I am getting ready with a glass of wine and listening to the nezt. I think it's Spiral. Narration perfect with Lucy and so so sexy voice of Christian. THANK YOU KATE!!

This is one of the best new authors and I would highly recommend every one of her books. I've listened to all of them and they keep getting better and better.

THE WALSHES are such a great series in audio.

It was so nice being back with the Walshes and book 3 sees us hanging out with Sam, the “runt” of the family. An emotionally immature man nearing 30 who has set himself up for tryst after tryst with no real sense of satisfaction. He falls hard for Tiel, his complete opposite. A chilled out, see what happens, musical spirit with hangups of her own. They fall into a comfortable existence which Sam later realises is “dating”.

I love how Kate has such balance in her books. There is humour, but it’s not over the top. There are flawed main characters who work through their shit to get to their happy. There is delicious spice, like scotch bonnet hot, and there are always emotions, so many of them and I am here for it all.

I love that it isn’t just the hero who needs to work through some stuff in this one. Tiel definitely self-sabotages early on but takes some time to reflect and works out why what happened did. Sam takes time to work on himself, and it’s great to see both characters growing through the book.

Lucy gives us the carefree Tiel. On the outside we hear the happy-go-lucky side to her, but Lucy gives us an invitation into Tiel’s head. Realising just how conflicted she is about how she’s feeling. Christian is a phenomenal voice actor, who just absolutely aces it every time. His depiction of Sam was spot on. We get everything from playful to serious and all the emotions in between.

You really can’t go wrong with any of Kate’s titles and this one is no exception.

I'm conflicted

I really enjoyed Sam and Tiels relationship and its development. HOWEVER Tiels insta-hate for his family and friends was incomplete and irrational. her behavior at dinner was beyond rude and never addressed and even when the sister offered an olive branch she was rude. I dont know that part of their story annoyed me but I loved the other parts of their story. overall good read

I LOVE this series!!!

I love how real this series is. I feel like these characters would be amazing to hang out with in real life. it really doesn't seem like they are fictional, they feel like real people. I love Sam and Tiel, while not my absolute favorites, they are great in their own right. I have read all the current books in the series so it's nice to be able to listen to them while I work or cook now.

if you haven't given this series a chance, please do. Kate is an amazing author and these are great characters with real substance. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This story was great- as the whole series has been so far! Sam and Tiel were intriguing characters and Lucy Rivers and Christian Fox did amazing jobs at bringing them to life!

Tiel

I enjoy the series so far but Tiel is my least favorite character of the series.
