Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's Navigators of Dune is the climactic finale of the Great Schools of Dune trilogy, set 10,000 years before Frank Herbert's classic Dune.
The story line tells the origins of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood and its breeding program, the human-computer Mentats, and the Navigators (the Spacing Guild), as well as a crucial battle for the future of the human race, in which reason faces off against fanaticism. These events have far-reaching consequences that will set the stage for Dune, millennia later.

Where does Navigators of Dune rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The new Dune novels are always a pleasure to listen to. This book was well written, narration was wonderful, and I hope there is more to come. What did you like best about this story?
If you are a fan of the Dune universe, than this story is exactly what you wanted to read. Learning about how the various organizations came to be was exciting, and fascinating. The Navigators guild, the Sisterhood, and the Mentat's in their toddler stage, how their philosophic concepts lead to a humanity that reaches out for a potential that you come to believe is possible, ok maybe not for the Navigators, but why not organized thoughts? Why not precise mental control over your physical being? What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The great thing about Scott Brick, is that he doesn't become part of the story. His narration has the ability to weave a great story into mental image that engrosses you.If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I wouldn't actually want this one made into a movie because I don't see how it could be done well. Perhaps a multi-season tv series, but then again it would kind of require information from the earlier books and could be confusing.Any additional comments?
For some people, Starwars is the best thing ever, for some people it was Star Trek, for me it has been and always will be the Dune Universe. I realize there are other great series out there, but nothing captures the imagination like Dune.Brian and Kevin do Frank a real service!
