Informative but...

This has been a horrendously difficult audiobook to finish. The stoic and monotonous nature of the narrator has actually diminish all the excellent content in this book. It is NOT suitable to be adapted into an audiobook.

I got this for my granddaughter as a Christmas gift. Seems well written and helpful to me, but more importantly, my granddaughter says she loves it! She likes English anyway, but she told me it has great information and has helped her already. Would highly recommend.

My son's MS doesn't have grammar lesson but it's one of the topics in HS entrance exam. He does one or two lessons a day and it's been helpful. Lesson is short so it's not added stress on top of the HW.

This is the perfect book for middle school English teachers. It covers all aspects of grammar and makes them easy to understand. The book is color-coded by grade and contains a worksheet for each concept.

I have purchased many books on the subject of English grammar and usage; all of them have one major flaw in common. The scope of the information provided in each book is greatly limited, incomplete, and asymmetrical.

My attempts to understand and master the various elements of the English language were hampered because I had to piece together the information from a multitude of books on the subject.

This book, however, provides the most complete information on the subject. The author presents the information in a simple and straight manner. I now have a greater understanding and command of the English language. To the author, I say thank you.

You know there's nothing like giving your college all and the characters, Krista and Eric did this completely in this twenty minute novella do that hands down. The author did a great job at developing a storyline with engaging characters. A good little diversion for your reading pleasure and enjoyment.

Easy to tab through. Down to earth! Easy to understand! If you need to perfect your English or boost your skills, grab this book. Grant Barrett gives it to you solid, but adds some humor and pop culture elements that keep a resource book entertaining. He also has a podcast that's very helpful called 'A Way with Words'. Check it out.

This book is an extremely useful guide for anyone really, not just students and teachers. It breaks down each part of a sentence and explains each in succinct detail. I especially appreciated the examples the author uses throughout the book to reinforce what is taught in each section. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in improving their writing skills or simply understanding the difficult English language. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I have never been someone who normally reads a book like this from front to back cover - I just open to different pages to see what's inside. Well, that's exactly what I did with this book, Perfect English Grammar: The Indispensable Guide to Excellent Writing and Speaking. I was pleasantly surprised that no matter which page I opened the book to, there was actually information I could use. There is so much useful information, especially for people who struggle with proper punctuation, quotation marks, numbers in sentences, and every other part of sentence structure. This book would be great for students just learning how to write essays or any paper in school. My son is graduating this year and will be heading off to college, so I think this book will benefit him greatly. I prefer paperback books since you can share them with others who might enjoy them, and this book is a really nice compact size. I think it's a great find. I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

An excellent book with many sentence diagramming examples that illustrate sentence diagramming. Sentence diagramming is an essential tool that can be readily used to better understand sentence structure. I regard this method as an essential aspect of learning grammar. The price for the book was reasonable.

The book teaches by example, which is very important for sentence diagramming. There are many example sentences in the book, all diagrammed. The book begins with simple sentences and progressively moves on to more complex ones.

Grammar has always seemed more like an art than a science to me. There are many rules that do not always make logical sense. The technique of sentence diagramming allows you to apply logic to the rules of grammar. This allows you to graphically represent exactly what a sentience means.

it would be a shame if would-be purchasers paid attention to a critical review over the mistaken notion that one word was supposedly used improperly. After all, anybody can put anything up on the web, but this book had to be reviewed and edited multiple times before publication. The 2014 version of the Blue Book is a worthy addition to my library. I look forward to referring to it frequently and often!

Who knew that I would be so over the top excited to get an english grammar book? I am a very intelligent 51 yr old back in school to bring myself into the 20th century. This book has been a lifesaver. It covers most grammar questions in 2-4 pages with examples. Far easier for me to review or refer to than looking on-line each time. Everyone should have two reference books on hand at home, a dictionary and The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation. No wonder my kids are constantly correcting me! I just bought another copy to give to a young gal in class that is struggling. This will help her for years to come. Honestly, it is a must have.

The organization of the workbook is its strong suit. It is easy to reference a particular rule or topic. Chapter Five is entitled; Confusing Words and Homonyms. It is a concise list of words that are often misused and confused. I use the list in my classroom every day! Literally, every day!

Let’s be honest. No one is purchasing this book because it’s an exciting read and there are plans to release a movie version soon. You need a grammar book that will allow you to reference something quickly, such as using the correct form of ‘effective’ or how you should avoid using the word ‘literally’ when what you really mean is ‘virtually’. If that’s what you’re after, then this is the book for you. As an English teacher, I’m always on the lookout for an easy to use, teacher-friendly grammar book. What I liked most about this book was its organization and length. It cut right to the chase and focused on the most important parts of grammatically correct writing.

Why is this important? Because these are the words which your auto correction/spelling checker miss - i.e. they are spelled correctly but with the wrong meaning so you end up looking like an idiot.
The simplest example is your rushing to finish you're article and you use your & you're incorrectly as I just did. Your spelling checker won't catch that so you better be sharp and use the correct word.
