For someone of mixed decent, and growing up in a Christian household, this book spoke directly to my heart. Thank you for your words Kaitlin.

if you live on the North American Continent...

Read this book. it is simple to understand. The language cannot be misinterpreted to mean anything other than the reality the author brings to life. There is moving and powerful imagery. There are also tough questions. would 100% recommend.

Thought provoking

I loved this book, educational and emotional. Relevant, inspiring, hopeful. I definitely recommend this book.

Inspirational

Curtice is a gifted writer with important things to say. In this book, she tackles the hard stuff: white supremacy, colonization, patriarchy. This one voice of the indigenous peoples gave me a greater insight into the indigenous experience in America and made me aware of so many injustices that prevailed. This book is a journey worth taking with this brilliant writer. I used the audio to follow along with the book and made it much more meaningful when read by the author. Highly recommend.

Wonderful and helpful and hopeful

Kaitlin Curtis writes a book that is both her own journey and a journey we all need to undertake. I find her writing wonderful and helpful and hopeful. Thank you.

Started out great

As a white and Ojibwe woman, I expected more of the tanglement of being both Christian and Native. I did not expect lies about Sandman and even some about Trump. Disappointed but still did enjoy most of the book.

I needed to hear these words.

This book spoke to my soul and helped me ponder some questions that I have been wrestling with. Great read/listen.

Inspiring and Hopeful

Kaitlin is moving and empowering. She inspires hope in each other, our communities and that there is a beautiful way to move forward in a world that is hard to make sense of sometimes. Thank you Kaitlin for your vulnerability and hard work. Your voice is sacred.

Outstanding storytelling

Curtis does an exceptional job giving a window into the dual life of being Christian and native. This is an excellent read that I highly recommend to all!

Honest and meaningful

I don’t know if I have the words to adequately describe the beauty of Kaitlin’s words. I can say she taught me a lot about what it means to be an indigenous woman and how I as a Christian can better honor her.
