Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated as he was leaving the Lorraine Motel in Memphis Tennessee to join the city's sanitation workers' striking for better working conditions and pay. Travel Radio International commemorates African-American history month with a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tenn. They discuss how the museum came to be located at the former Lorraine Motel - site of the 1968 assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - as well as key episodes in American history from the original importation into the colonies of Africans to be slaves through the civil rights movement and its legacy.
