Publisher's summary

When NYPD Red arrives at a crime scene, everyone takes notice. Known as the protectors of the rich, famous, and connected, NYPD Red is the elite task force called in only for New York City's most high-profile crimes. And Detective Zach Jordan is the best of the best, a brilliant and relentless pursuer of justice. He puts professionalism above all, ignoring his feelings for his partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald, the woman who broke his heart when they first met in the academy.

But even with their top-notch training, Zach and Kylie aren't prepared for what they see when they're called to a crime scene in the heart of Central Park. They arrive to find a carousel spinning round and round, its painted horses grinning eerily in the early morning dark. There is only one rider: A brutally slaughtered woman, her body tied up and dressed in a Hazmat suit, on display for the world to see.

The victim, a woman of vast wealth and even greater connections, is the fourth in a string of shocking murders that have hit the city. As the public pressure mounts, and political and personal secrets of the highest order hang in the balance, Zach and Kylie must find out what's really behind the murderer's rampage. But Kylie has been acting strange recently—and Zach knows whatever she's hiding could threaten the biggest case of their careers.

NYPD Red 2 is the next outstanding novel in James Patterson's newest series, a thriller that careens through New York City and deep into the psyche of a depraved killer you've never seen before.

I always liked Patterson's books, but the NYPD Red series is the best yet. Just reading the 3rd one but already cannot wait for the next!

NYPD Red 2 too short.

I liked the plot as I have all the "NYPD" books. This particular book is very short as novels go, and it left a feeling that it was severely abridged, but I did not see a notice that it was. Hopefully this is an anomaly that will not happen again. I did not notice an abridgment in the cost.

Riveting to the end

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. It covered 12 years and kept me interested from beginning to end.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I didn't have the ending figured out so I was at the edge of my seat wondering what would happened next. I even had to listen while getting ready for work in the morning to find out.

Have you listened to any of Edoardo Ballerini and Jay Snyder ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not sure

Great Read

This was one of the best James Patterson books I have ever read action the whole way through believable just one of the best. I have recommended to everyone what a movie this would make. However Eduardo is a great narrator. I read the preview for book 3 and didn't think he was going to be the narrator and was very disappointed but he is can you tell I am very impressed with this particular book '

GUSH! 15 Stars!But don't read this.... FIRST!

GUSH! Uh-huh, I'm in the mood to gush over the fun that Edoardo Ballerina and Jay Snyder create in this series. Patterson's brand has had a steroid rush from the invention of NYPD RED.

Warning... warning... warning... There is a "2" in this title. You must read NYPD RED 1 first. Or else this book is one long spoiler alert that will asphyxiate your satisfaction in listening to the first in this series. I gushed over that book... So let me write that this is in every way as good. Better? Hmmmm....

Wuddaya want from a police procedural set in Metropolis? It is all here paced by Patterson and Karp to keep you in the driveway listening after a long commute. It's designed to make you earbud-anti-social for hours so that you can let the story anesthetize away life's tensions.

This is snarky entertainment... Start with NYPD RED 1, read this then, like me... go onto the waiting list for the next Zack Jordan, Kylie MacDonald adventure...

The only mystery now is whether Patterson and Karp can keep popping fifteen stars out of me with each new NYPD RED. Can't wait to find out.
