Publisher's summary

Former cop turned lawyer turned investigator, Stone Barrington is in a position that every ex-policeman dreads; all around him people are dying, and he suspects the killer may be someone he put in prison years before.

Dino Bacchetti, Stone's ex-partner, is not immune either, and the two men must pool their resources to protect those close to them. Stone's former love, Arrington, now married to movie star Vance Calder, is back too, and nose to nose with a new woman in Stone's life, one with a Mafia bloodline who may be as dangerous as she is beautiful.

Stone and Dino begin to trace their tracks from years before looking for clues that might lead them to the brilliant killer. From a premier table at the legendary Elaine's to dark back alleys where Armani-clad mobsters with the latest lethal accessories dwell, this nail-biting suspense tale takes Stone on a life-and-death hunt that twists and turns till the very end, a gripping thrill ride that will test him as no case has ever done before. Racing to find a killer, Stone can only pray that his worst fears won't be realized.

Looking for Clues

I'm enjoying reading the series. Woods always writes a pretty good story that is hard to put down. Our hero, Stone Barrington, is literally a crime solving chick magnet and this book is no different. This is the 5th book in the series; however, I've read #6 and looked for clues about future plot angles and characters in #5. They are really subtle. Just read and enjoy...don't overthink. #7 next month.

love the Stone Barrington series

I am getting used to his different character voices and love how he keeps them consistent even among the different Stuart Woods books. He is easy to listen to!

Can't Escape

I've read every Stone Barrington book... every single one... some are great... some are goofy..... but I've enjoyed each one.... until Woods decided to insert his politics into his books. We read his genre of books to escape everyday life but he has chosen to thinly.... thinly.... veil his disdain and hatred for one party... it's his right to write whatever he wants to write and thankfully, it's my right to choose other books.... thankfully, the reviews guide me.....

Stuart Does it Again

Another in the series of lawyer/detective Stone Barrington. Such a great character to follow. If you haven't read/heard any at all, I suggest you start with "New York Dead" that was the first in the series. If you are listening in order, Mr. Woods does not disappoint! You will enjoy this one as much or more than any of his others.

Early Stone Barrington and excellent !

He’s still very good but at this pint he was still fresh and particularly excited.

Very Disappointed

I would really like to get my money back for this book. The story is absolutely unbelievable and predictable. I stopped listening after a couple of chapters. This from the author of "Chiefs" an excellent read. Too bad
