Awesome story! Awesome listening experience!

What made the experience of listening to What She Saw the most enjoyable?

The main character immediately pulled me in as the psychological expense built. Aria's narration of Jen's journey to discover who she was and what happened made me feel that I was hearing and feeling Jen's thoughts and emotions.

What other book might you compare What She Saw to and why?

Poison Pen.. I love forensic mysteries.

Have you listened to any of Aria McKenna’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Jaw-dropping, white-knuckled suspense...

What a ride! Nothing is what is seems. No one is who you think they are. You are headed in one direction and *BAM* the plot changes course on a dime. I found this to be an incredibly suspenseful story with great characters and plenty of plot twists to keep me glued to the story from the first page to the last. If you think you will just read a chapter to two before bed – you are mistaken. This story is more addictive than Pringles chips. I read along while I listened to the audiobook version of this story and I don’t know if it is just a matter of my book being older than the audiobook, but the audiobook didn’t follow the book exactly. It didn’t distract from the enjoyment of this story but it was quite noticeable. I felt the narrator did a good job overall but I do not understand why so many narrators feel the need to read so slowly. Unfortunately, speeding up the audiobook introduced unacceptable distortion that kept me from listening at any rate above 1.2X. Don’t let that deter you, though, this is an amazing story. I will definitely be looking for more from this author.

While I did purchase a copy of this book, I did receive a free copy of the audiobook, regardless, I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.

Twists and turns galore....................

What She Saw is an absolutely mind-bending tale of twist and turns. I am going to be very careful with this review because I don't want to ruin the amazing experience available for future listeners with any spoilers. Although I have never suffered from amnesia or serious memory loss, the way that Lowe describes the feeling for the main character, Jenna Marcott, as she awakens on a train to somewhere with no memory, no identity and no possessions seemed chillingly believable. As the story progresses and Jenna begins to piece together her history and identity, I kept thinking that I understood what was happening. However, I was wrong each and every time. Lowe writes about Jenna's experience like she is peeling back the thickest of onions one tiny sliver at a time until BAM - a huge reveal. Of course, that is midway through the book and actually only the beginning of the story.

For fans of Lowe's character, Claudia Rose, both her boyfriend and she play an integral part in the development of the plot, but What She Saws has a different feel than the forensic handwriting stories. The story explores some very dark and disturbing themes, but I was left with an overall optimistic feeling at the end. Not to mention, the story is so fascinating and intriguing that I never had the opportunity to let the sad and heavy themes overwhelm the excitement. I can't say enough positive about What She Saw or anything written by Sheila Lowe, and I am anxiously awaiting the future adventures she will pen.

Aria McKenna's narration is superb. Her performance truly made Jenna's absolute terror and pain come to life. She differentiated well between the various characters, and her timing and delivery were perfect. This was my first listen to Ms. McKenna, but I would definitely listen to one of her audiobooks again.

High creep factor with goosebumps and hair standing up on the back of my neck!!! The implantation was geniuses and so sick at the same time. Looking forward to the conclusion. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Great suspense

The beginning of this book is so suspenseful that I was tempted to skip ahead just to get some relief from the anxiety I was feeling. The author did an incredible job dealing with the mad scramble for things to make sense. And what a scramble.

No one and nothing was at it seemed in this wonderful, wonderful mystery. The twists and turns, and good guys versus bad guys, was on a constant swivel. As things became clear there was still so much more intrigue to deal with.

Don't expect the three main characters from the other books in this series to make an appearance. They are very much in the background. This listen is propelled by the mystery of the amnesia victim and the what's and why-for's therein.

The narrator was a great choice for this listen. There was a lot of putting puzzle pieces together, with suspense aplenty, and the narrator was quite adept.

A Page Turner

What did you love best about What She Saw?

I loved that I could't guess where the story was going. I usually can guess the outcome way before a book ends but this one kept me guessing.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, this book makes good use of suspense. I felt there was danger at every moment and the feeling of not knowing who you are helped this. Are you with a friend or enemy? Keep reading.

What does Aria McKenna bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good job and I prefer being read to as my eyes aren't too good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but I don't want to write it here as it is a spoiler.

Any additional comments?

I have read other books by Sheila Lowe and have enjoyed them very much. This book was very special and I would like to see these characters again in future books. Once I started listening, I was driven to get through and then disappointed that it was over.

A twist at every turn, I could not stop listening

Once again, this author grabs you right from the start and doesn't let go until the very end! This story begins with mystery and suspense and doesn’t stop. Just when I thought I had the mystery solved…. another twist, leading you deeper into the labyrinth of conspiracy and deception! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a psychological thriller.

The thing I like most about this book is the story line. Our society and current events completely feed into the concept of this novel. I highly recommend not only this book but also the entire Claudia Rose series. You will not be disappointed!

suspensful and engaging

** I received this audiobook in exchange for a honest review**

The quality of this audiobook was great, the narrator, Aria McKenna, did a great job reading. She really gets into it and I appreciated that very much. the only improvement I could think of would be a slightly longer pause between chapters.
The story is very engaging and frustrating. For a while you have no idea what's going on just like our main lady, Jenna. But then it's a puzzle of what happened to her, why she has amnesia. it's surprise after surprise. near the end my suspension of disbelief was beginning to wear thin. But it's still a suspenseful and engaging read or listen.
