Publisher's summary

On one of the city's hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park - and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of The Lake in the park. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes - removed with such precision, as if done by the careful hand of a surgeon - that have Dallas most alarmed.

As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic who offers one vision after another - each with shockingly accurate details of the murders. And when partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir?

With help from her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer's motivation before another vision becomes another nightmare.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Great Series

I absolutely love all the JD Robb In Death audiobooks. I can't even imagine reading these books now as I know the voices of my characters. Start at book 1 and listen to them all you will not be disappointed. It is great to hear how each of the characters grow.

Interesting Ending

In this JD Robb mystery, Dallas and Peabody meet up with a psychic and a bodybuilder, which oddly enough makes for a pretty good mystery. Pay attention as you listen because Robb uses foreshadowing extremely well in this book. It's the best she's ever used that technique. The ending might be a surprise to readers. And, as always, Robb advances the personal lives of her characters just a little bit more. Although reading the series in order makes it a bit more enjoyable, Robb continues to do a nice job of filling in a new reader without using a lot of filler. It doesn't distract a tried and true reader, yet lets a new reader in on the past. Susan Erickson has also seemed to return 100% to the original voices of the characters, which is a welcome relief to the seasoned Robb listener.

Excellent listen, great story

Would you consider the audio edition of Visions in Death to be better than the print version?

I think the audio book and print book are equalling great. This is one of the best books in the In Death series, in the top 5 of the series. But I always enjoy listening to Susan Ericksen's reading of these books.

What other book might you compare Visions in Death to and why?

Ignoring the futuristic setting, the book reminds me some of the Women's Murder Club series with the relationships between the friends as a backdrop to murder.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've have listened to several of Susan Ericksen's performances and I thoroughly enjoy her reading with the various accents and inflections. This book is no exception, with the added advantage that this story is one of the better ones.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I can imagine listening to this book in one sitting but I doubt I will ever have the luxury of such time.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy the JD Robb's In Death books and part of the reason is my enjoyment of Susan Ericksen's performance.
