Publisher's summary

On one of the city's hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park - and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of The Lake in the park. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes - removed with such precision, as if done by the careful hand of a surgeon - that have Dallas most alarmed.

As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic who offers one vision after another - each with shockingly accurate details of the murders. And when partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir?

With help from her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer's motivation before another vision becomes another nightmare.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Interesting Ending

In this JD Robb mystery, Dallas and Peabody meet up with a psychic and a bodybuilder, which oddly enough makes for a pretty good mystery. Pay attention as you listen because Robb uses foreshadowing extremely well in this book. It's the best she's ever used that technique. The ending might be a surprise to readers. And, as always, Robb advances the personal lives of her characters just a little bit more. Although reading the series in order makes it a bit more enjoyable, Robb continues to do a nice job of filling in a new reader without using a lot of filler. It doesn't distract a tried and true reader, yet lets a new reader in on the past. Susan Erickson has also seemed to return 100% to the original voices of the characters, which is a welcome relief to the seasoned Robb listener.

If you have followed the series 1 of the best

I haven't really commented on J.D. Rob (Nora Roberts) "In Death" series this one is book 19. At this point you have gotten to know and get attached to many of the characters. Serial Killers are at best a horror that can turn anyone's stomach. In this story there are twists and an ending that will surprise, I really didn't see it coming. Maybe I was too caught up in the story. But I enjoyed this book in the series very much.
If you have enjoyed this series I recommend this one highly

I do the job!

That in itself is enough for her fans. Additionally this audio production with its well balanced and effective use of minor audio effects and talented narration pulls listeners in brings you center stage. The characters take form and come to life in your mind as they interact. Sure Dallas is the lead but each member of her cast will remind you of someone. Warning: This story is not for the faint of heart. Women will get this one. But all listeners will walk away cheering fist held high proclaiming this Lt. as their cop.

Didn't see that ending coming!!!!

I will say this is one of my favorites in this series. I love how much closer it brings Dallas and Peabody together. I also love seeing another side of Eve being brought out. I have read these books in order and would ask anyone interested in this series to do the same. By reading them in order you know each of the characters and see how they deepen with each book. To pick them up in any order you will lose the character development.

Best Peabody and Dallas

Best story yet and the relationship between Dallas and Peabody is made strong and real. I cried for them both during Peabody's ordeal. I recommend this audiobook to all.

Take this book out of Erotica Genre!

This book should not be in Erotica Genre. It is a Mystery or detective book!

Another Good Installment

I enjoyed this installment a lot. The story was well written and the mystery took several twists and turns. Eve and Roarke were their usual selves and Mavis and Leonardo both made a couple of appearances - which were well done. It's enjoyable watching Peabody's character develop as both a woman and a cop and I enjoyed both Feeny and McNab's contributions. I'm also enjoying Eve and Dr. Mira's evolving co-worker/mentor/friend/sustitute mother relationship. The "small" addittion of a paranormal element ("visions/psychic abilities) was well done too.

It was good in the sense that your now starting too see some tenderness in Lt Dallas which seems to now be developing. If you have been a JD Robb fan, this will not disappoint you.

Couldn't stop listening...

I've purchased all but 3 of the "In Death" series, and this book has been the BEST... VERY riveting..Susan Olsen does a superb job narrating and KUDOS to J. D. Robb for keeping us in suspence after Peabody's "accident". I am eagerly awaiting my next download...
