Publisher's summary

Nick Heller is tough, smart, and stubborn. And in his line of work, it's essential. Trained in the Special Forces, Nick is a high-powered intelligence investigator - exposing secrets that powerful people would rather keep hidden. He's a guy you don't want to mess with. He's also the man you call when you need a problem fixed.

Desperate, with nowhere else to run, Nick's nephew, Gabe makes that call one night. After being attacked in Georgetown, his mother lies in a coma, and his step-dad, Roger, Nick's brother, has vanished without a trace. Nick and Roger have been on the outs since the arrest, trial, and conviction of their father, the notorious "fugitive financier" Victor Heller. Where Nick strayed from the path, Roger followed their father's footsteps into the corporate world. Now, as Nick searches for his brother, he's on a collision course with one of the most powerful corporations in the world - and they will stop at nothing to protect their secrets, in Joseph Finder's thrilling Vanished.

Slight of hand...

Vanished is a example of the best of slight of hand magic. The book captured my attention from the beginning and led me through a myriad of clues that were there but unseen by well worked misdirection. I loved Holter Graham's narration.

Really Loved it, even with the whining!

This book was exciting, riveting and really kept my attention. It was a bit predictable but then had a few good twists and turns. I do agree with one of the others here, that the voice of the son was about as annoying as any I've heard in years. even when he was happy he sounded like he was whining and crying. The Mom's wasn't much better. If you can get past that, I thought it was a great read.

Looking for Jack Reacher

Close to the pace of Jack Reacher. Story line not quite as good, but close. Will try next book in series hoping for improvement.

Really enjoyed this. I've found a new series!

Just finished listening to "Vanished" after I had stumbled across "Buried Secrets". Great characters, story line, and narration. Keeps you guessing to the end even if you're like me and had listened to "Buried Secrets" first. If another Nick Heller comes out I'll be getting it.

Good listen

Interesting story. Great main character. Would recommend this. It took me a while though to get used to the whiny voices of Lauren and Gabe.

Terrible Reader

I have read a couple of Finder's books and like them but I must say that after listening to about on hour of this book, I can't stand it any more. The reader uses this whining nasal voice for the teenage boy and his mother that has driven me to quite listening. Too bad because I think this is probably an excellent book.

Really enjoyed it

I saw where many reviewers didn't like the reader, but I thought he was terrific. I felt he did a very good job and his voice was very easy, clear and pleasant. I had no objection what-so-ever to the variety of voices he used for the different characters.
I'd never read anything by Finder before. Thought it was a pretty decently engaging story and loved the way it turned out.
Now I'll look to see what other things he's written and what this reader has narrated.

Great story and good narrator.

Having recently "found" Joseph Finder and the hero "Nick Heller", I have been thrilled with his books. This one is no exception. The story line is strong and I felt he built the characters to be able to continue for many more books to follow. I really like the hero, "Nick" and recommend this book and the other "Nick Heller" stories.
