Publisher's summary

It's Maya and Jamie's anniversary, and she waits with excitement for him to return home for a celebratory dinner. There's a knock at the door. It's the police. Jamie has been found hanging in a local wood. His death is ruled a suicide, but Maya doesn't believe Jamie would take his own life. Something isn't right. Someone has broken into her house. Someone is watching her. And someone has gone to great lengths to cover up what Jamie was doing before he died.

Maya's grief turns to suspicion, and as she begins to investigate the weeks leading up to Jamie's death, her trail leads her to a place known as "The Big House" and the horrific secrets within. Secrets people will stop at nothing to keep hidden. People linked to the heart of the Establishment who think they're untouchable. Now Maya has a dangerous decision to make. How far is she prepared to go to reveal the truth?

Critic reviews

"One of those novels that hooks you in from the start, then keeps upping the game as you read it until you are desperate for certain outcomes from the plot and characters…. 5 huge stars and long-listed for my Top 10 Books of 2016." (Booklover Catlady)

Duplicity - was outstanding, sadly, this was not

The narrators did a great job! I bought this book because Duplicity was A+. To me, this story dragged on and unless you like hearing about children being abused, you should consider other titles.

It was all good...

I was really enjoying this book... til the end. I really felt jipped on an ending. I wanted more of an ending. I know, we got an ending but it was lacking for me.

Horribly Beautiful

A subject matter that isn't discussed enough: how abuse affects boys and the men they become. Such an ugly topic, but the author dealt with it very tastefully, making me cringe and recoil without being overly graphic. A tragic and beautiful story.

Horrific yet mesmerizing tale of darkness & light!

If you could sum up Untouchable in three words, what would they be?

Provocative breathtaking hopeful.

What did you like best about this story?

The unfolding of a series of disturbing events. The excitement of adding technology, mystery, revenge and emotion.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A cast of excellent narrators, who captivate the listener and create a visual environment ... it was hard for me to break away to reality.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

an insight into the depth of depravity.

Any additional comments?

I have been frustrated in my search for noir/mysterious/thrilling/ suspenseful audio books, having down loaded hundreds of books within the past two years. This one caught me right from the start. Hopefully ... my next Sibel Hodge book will lead me to my net favorite author.

Good Story But the Main Character

it was a good story, good performance. I had difficulty connecting with the main character, though. I can't stand people that treat others poorly because their life is difficult. every time she spoke or thought nasty thoughts about complete strangers that are trying to be kind, I cringed

a good story but

I had to fast forward through the graphic sadistic chapters because they were just too disturbing.

Ah. The end and I'm crying.

yes, there are disturbing scenes. but this world isn't pretty. I didn't enjoy hearing the bad, sad parts, but then I'm not faint of heart. I felt for all characters. if this were a movie, nobody would be giving it a bad rating, I'm sure. sad. poignant. meaning. 3 associative words.

Great story; I found the details of what happened to the boys too detailed for me, and I had to skip parts, but the good story.

I liked the flow and the chapter changes with characters, I found the female voice a little whiny.
Details of what happened to the boys - too graphic.

RIGHT UP THERE 🔝🔝🔝🔝

Who was your favorite character and why?

THAT'S HARD, I THINK MITCHELL. CAN'T SAY WHY, SPOILER

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

THE INTENSITY OF THE STORY. I CRIED MY EYES OUT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING AND ALOT OF IT HAD TO DO WITH THE NARRATION.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS...

Any additional comments?

EXCELLENT READ, HAD ME IN TEARS FROM THE FIRST FEW PAGES UNTIL THE END, AND EVEN THEN I HATED TO SEE THE BOOK END! EXCELLENT NARRATORS, BOY THAT LADY CAN WRITE ! 😁😁😁

Psychological thriller that loses its way

This book starts out well, describing in some depth the feelings of a young British woman awaiting the arrival home of her boyfriend in anticipation of celebrating their engagement. I was expecting a good psychological thriller. Unfortunately, the psychological focus disappears about midway through the book. A new male character is introduced who has no emotional ties to the young woman. He seeks vengeance and leads an unbelievable hunt to eliminate all the bad guys. His serial pursuit failed to thrill me.
