Not for me

This was a very strange and weird book. I gave it three stars because it is actually an ok mystery. I read the entire thing and found myself creeped out at the end. I'm not going to read anymore in this series. I'm not saying it wasn't a good book, just not for me.

Greywalker gets Better

So I've been trying to figure out why the Greywalker novels have such low reviews ... I think I've finally figured it out. Greywalker novels don't have anywhere near as much action as say the Dresden files, though I must also say that Kat Richardson doesn't have the humor the Bob the skull brings to Dresden either. Greywalker novels though are much more about the mystery than Dresden and as such have only a few action scenes.

However, this is the best Greywalker novel yet. I really enjoyed Underground. A lot more information is found out about some of the more mysterious characters in the novel, and many interesting relationships spring up. Also the world that Kat creates about the underground world of Seattle is very interesting even if reminiscent of Dresden's Undertown. Great novel really strong mystery and the answer isn't as obvious as the other two. Looking forward to continuing the series.

Better Than The First 2 Books

Would you consider the audio edition of Underground to be better than the print version?

Yes, since its already hard to pay attention to this dry series of books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No. This series hasn't kept me on the edge of anything except falling asleep.

Which character – as performed by Mia Barron – was your favorite?

They are all the same. Mia is a good and a bad narrator. I can't tell if the book makes the narrator bad or if the narrator makes the book bad.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No for the way this question is intending. But yes so I can finish the dumb book series and never ever go back to it again.

Any additional comments?

This Greywalker book series is absolutely horrid and I still don't know why.

I think the narrator is good.
I think the book is very well written.
I think the author is extremely knowledgeable.

Maybe its the plot/stories in this book series that I don't like. I find all 3 books so far to be boring and unappealing.

Wow new monsters in the Grey

Harper’s relationships are changing and are deeply affected by her being a Greywalker. The new case she has been asked to assist with is for her friend Quinton and as she delves in the the case she learns a bit more about the monsters and has to survive zombies and mythological creatures with the help of Ben and Mara.

It was a bit boring in parts

Would you recommend Underground to your friends? Why or why not?

I thought this book was a bit boring in parts. Although it was still good it felt dragged out a bit. If you are listening to the series it's an OK from me

Fun!

Kat does a great job describing the veil between worlds. She makes it seem downright plausible.

Another Great Addition to the Series

I greatly enjoyed this book. I loved getting to learn more about Seattle's underground, and all the history surrounding it. Also, the mystery and the paranormal twist was well written and very interesting. I love all of the characters in these books. Harper surrounds herself with interesting people. Plus I love that Harper is a competent, compassionate P.I. who messes up sometimes but always tries so hard to do the right thing. All in all a very good book and I can't wait for the next one.

Amazing.

Loved it. Enough fantasy without the crazy extras and no over the board sexual content. nice little love story for the romance side as well. The narrator is great too...

I really want to like this series, but........

The only book that I've ever returned is the previous one in this series, "Poltergeist" It was sooooo boring. I thought this one was getting us back on track. More character building, and not so much with the friend's kid. It had a more interesting story, with Quinton playing a larger role, and more personal things going on with Harper. I did get bored with it though, as it progressed, just wanted it to end, so I could listen to something else.
I'm wondering now, if it might be the narration. She is slow and pretty emotionless. I read the first novel, and that's why I went forward with the series. Now, I'm wondering if I should just read the next in the series, or stop while I'm ahead. Decisions, decisions.

Better than the first two

Would you try another book from Kat Richardson and/or Mia Barron?

I haven't listened to any other series by her, but if an interesting concept comes along I might try it

Would you be willing to try another book from Kat Richardson? Why or why not?

After this third book I might. I actually listened to all three books in this series because I just usually will listen to all of them unless it's TOTALLY terrible. I guess it would depend on the story.

What aspect of Mia Barron’s performance would you have changed?

She sounded bored most of the time. Even when there should have been excitement she sounded a little bored...

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not, but a better chance that the 2nd book...
