Publisher's Summary

Magic, mayhem, family, love, curses and murder!

This boxset collection includes the first three full-length magical cozy witch mysteries of Tess Lake's fun new series.

Butter Witch

The International Butter Festival has come to town! When Harlow Torrent, part-time journalist and full-time Slip Witch stumbles upon a dead body, frozen and drained of blood, she's pulled into a murder mystery.

Someone has murdered one of the Festival competitors. Was it Zero Bend, punk sculptor with a history of violence? Perhaps Fusion Swan, a sleazy agent playing the publicity game when his clients meet their end.

Between trying to run her struggling online newspaper, dealing with her highly caffeinated cousins Molly and Luce, fending off three meddling witch mothers who will do anything to get their daughters married (including drugging food with magic potions) and great Aunt Cass who appears to be running an underground laboratory, Harlow barely has time to breathe, let alone solve a murder.

Romance certainly isn't on the cards either but the hot scruffy guy new to town seems to have other ideas...

Treasure Witch

Harlow Torrent, part-time journalist and full-time Slip Witch is pulled into a murder mystery when the skeletons of a man and a girl are uncovered on Truer Island.

Seeing visions of the past that are all too real and ghosts who are becoming more solid by the day, Harlow is trying to keep her newspaper running, dealing with her crazy witch family and working out what to do about the very handsome Jack Bishop being back in town.

But Harlow might be out of her depth when the murderer sets their sights on her!

Hidden Witch

Harlow Torrent, part-time journalist and full-time Slip Witch is hot on the trail of an arsonist.

But who is behind the deadly fires? Someone working for their own evil ends or a fire spirit acting according to its nature? Or perhaps a magical power hidden away?

Very Familiar

These books remind me of the Amanda Lee books - same cousins, same aunts etc. But they are good stories.

Was that supposed to be an ending?

The books were level, by this I mean not a lot of ups or downs. the story wasn't very gripping there was no suspense and the so called ending was horrible it was as if the sentence that was being said was cut off suddenly mid sentence and then you hear the audouble recording. The narrator wasn't bad but wasn't amazing either. I see why it was all clumped together.

enjoyable

enjoyed the books, the reader was very good, but could have read the characaters a tiny bit less valley girl. 😁 if you like magic stories and mysteries, this is a good fit.

Can't wait to dive into the next set

I became attached to all of the characters the minute each one entered the story, even Aunt Cass who was very annoying but a necessary part of the family.

Fun Read

I admit I had to acclimate to this reader. Her rendition of some characters, especially Luce, was a little off putting, but I still enjoyed the books. I plan to buy the next 3 books in the near future.

Cute series

This was a nice easy listen while at work. I love Adams I wish I had him as my pet. Only thing that bothered me was when the narrator paused after sentences. .....she said. ......I said. ......Mom said.

Cute Series, I want to live in Harlot Bay!!!

What made the experience of listening to Torrent Witches Cozy Mysteries, Box Set 1 the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed the stories the main characters are very likable. My favorite character would be Aunt Cass. A very spunkly old lady.

What other book might you compare Torrent Witches Cozy Mysteries, Box Set 1 to and why?

I discovered this series after I binged read/listened to the Wicked Witches of the Midwest Series. Very similar recipe, 3 young ladies with 3 crazy moms, a crazy awesome great aunt, no dads, a older police officer family friend and love interest for all 3 young ladies.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

i wish the performer didn't speak so fast in doing some of the voices, she tended to make the words very understandable due to slurring and speaking the lines too fast with a sad attempt of doing different voices.

Any additional comments?

worth the buy, buying the other 2 books in the series after this review.

great story telling

Tess Lake did a fantastic job of story telling in this set of books. Bravo
Natalie Duke was easily able to bring this story to life. The inflections and various tones that she used in order to bring the various characters to life was exceptionally done. The three stories that comprised this box set, brought you, the reader, into their lives. As they got into mischievous situations, you were wondering how they were going to get out of it. I imagine that there will be other books in this series, as it would be interesting to find out how the grandmother got into the situation she is in.

Too similar to another author

This was a good listen, ruined by the fact it’s ffaarrr to similar to Amanda m Lee’s Wicked witches of the Midwest.
Seeing as this was published well after her books this feels like a tweaked, less good copy of of Amanda’s series.

Enchanting Entertainment.

Entertaining and engaging - great characters, good story and beautifully voiced so this one wins points in all areas.
