Publisher's summary

When artist Alex Jenrette experiences a series of terrifying events, from a near-fatal car crash to a savage abduction, when her drawings implicate her in a brutal murder . . . will revealing her psychic ability get her deeper in trouble?

Alex's story poses a dilemma for the prosecutor obsessed with taking down a slippery crime boss--should he gamble on the psychic? Is she his best chance? Or his worst?

Time of Death is the second book in the McGuire Women psychic series: each book features a different member of the family.

Ellis's novels are suspense stories with varying degrees of romance. Her books contain adult language and situations. Her standalone novels are suspense, and the McGuire women books are about a family with a psychic streak. Her short stories are Southern fiction.

An Intriguing Suspense You Won't Want to Put Down!

Would you listen to Time of Death again? Why?

Yes, I would. In addition to the great action and suspense, I really loved some of these characters and would like to see them (listen to them) again! Of course I loved the main characters, Alex and Connor, and I was enamored with Isobel, but most of all I loved two minor characters, Jelly Biggs and Jax, the dog. They were just outstanding. Jelly reminded me of an innocent, gentle giant. I really loved him.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Time of Death?

There were many nail-biting scenes, and all of the villains provided great fodder for lots of chasing and running and heart pounding action. But most of all I loved the scenes between Jelly and Alex - he was just so endearing, in spite of his bumbling ways. ;o) I liked the scene in the dark cottage when Connor and Alex were sitting under the blanket and eating shrimp. There is a very strong "sense of place" in this book, which I always enjoy. ;o) Excellent romantic tension, too.

What about Teri Schnaubelt’s performance did you like?

I really liked Teri's performance's on the whole. A few of the voices seemed a tiny bit overplayed, but I sure could never do such a great job differentiating the voices. I loved her Southern accents, especially Isobel's.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The last scene where Alex sat beside Jelly's hospital bed and defended him to the lady detective - loved that. ;o)

Any additional comments?

I'm off to listen to more books by Ellis Vidler! Kudos on a job well done.

Excellent book, great narration

What made the experience of listening to Time of Death the most enjoyable?

I like that Vidler keeps the romance light and the suspense heavy. Schnaubelt does an excellent job conveying the suspenseful moments too.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Time of Death?

Alex's paranormal ability and how it affected normal things, from a suspenseful car chase to her relationship with other characters, like Conner.

Which character – as performed by Teri Schnaubelt – was your favorite?

So many choices... but I'd have to go with the main character, Alex Jenrette

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Paranormal action, romance and suspense on a South Carolina island for artist Alex Jenrette.

Any additional comments?

The story caught me right away, and I was surprised by that, because while I enjoy Patterson and Balducci, the romantic element would normally cause me to put it down. I'll have to listen to more Vidler, because she spins a good yarn. And Schnaubelt does the story justice. 5 stars all around.

Believable Psychic Powers, Interesting Characters

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

When it comes to characters with psychic powers, I'm often cynical. However, author Ellis Vidler paints the psychic powers of the McGuire women in such a compelling, believable manner that I totally buy in. The characters in Time of Death are relatable people you want to cheer for, and the villains are well-drawn, too. Superb pacing and lots of suspense. No problems giving this audiobook a five-star rating.

What about Teri Schnaubelt’s performance did you like?

Teri's performance is excellent. She does a great job with the voices of the men as well as the women.

Loved the book, loved the audio

What made the experience of listening to Time of Death the most enjoyable?

I had read Ellis Vidler's book long enough ago that listening to the audio seemed fresh in both character and plot. The cast is well presented, from Alex, the reluctant heroine, to Connor, the federal attorney who falls for her, to Rawlins, the antagonist, who proves that sometimes covering up one crime leads to another and another, until everything gets out of control. My two favorites were Jelly, the punch drunk boxer who falls in love with an angel and the star, for me, the three-legged military dog, Jax. All are fully drawn by the skill of Ms. Vidler's writing.

What does Teri Schnaubelt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator does a good job keeping the voices separate and individual. Ms. Schnaubelt has a pleasing voice and brings the story to life.

Any additional comments?

I've read other books by this author and look forward to listening to them too. I'm sure they'll all be as good as Time of Death.

The thrills continue...

This book is even better than book 1 was! It is thrilling, exciting and suspenseful too! I started this book today and played it all day and night (straight thru). I was glued to my desk and didn't want to get up as I was afraid I would miss something. There were even times when I was gripping my chair arms. (goose bumps too)

This is a story of psychics and it runs in the family. It is like psychics vs mobsters. The author, Ellis Vidler does a superb job telling this story. There is even an eeriness chill in the air as I listen to it. What a great story teller this author is! The narrator, Teri Schanubelt delivers a perfect narration to us complete with multiple voices and accents. I absolutely love this series and wish there was more audio books to this set!

I won this audio book in a contest event.
