Publisher's summary

What did she see?

It's been 10 long months since Anna Fox last left her home. Ten months during which she has haunted the rooms of her old New York house like a ghost, lost in her memories, too terrified to step outside.

Anna's lifeline to the real world is her window, where she sits day after day, watching her neighbours. When the Russells move in, Anna is instantly drawn to them. A picture-perfect family of three, they are an echo of the life that was once hers.

But one evening, a frenzied scream rips across the silence, and Anna witnesses something no one was supposed to see. Now she must do everything she can to uncover the truth about what really happened. But even if she does, will anyone believe her? And can she even trust herself?

Thriller diller

Great book, well read. Really evocative of the best of the 'film noir' genre without overdoing it or driving you crazy with references. It works.

Exhilarating, Thrilling, Amazing

Anna Fox is truly a masterpiece in this book. It's my first time hearing about someone who has extreme agoraphobia. Anna is definitely cynosure of this show. We find out about what led her to this confined life. Her voice and feelings are strong. Readers truly empathize for her.

A child psychologist, who suffered a breakdown but now inadequate to the four corners of her house. She believes that her husband and child live separately from her. The internet becomes her fortress and medium in her day to day contact with different professionals and people with same malady as her. Leading a very sad and narrow life, we completely understand Anna’s feelings of helplessness and self-loathing.

One day, Anna witnesses a murder from her window. The only problem is that no one believes her. She takes a cocktail of drugs for her medical condition and has been self medicating with alcohol. Anna is considered unreliable and unstable by the police. With no evidence and only gut instinct to go on, Anna sets about proving everybody wrong and trying to solve an impossible murder.

One of the highlights of the drama is the perfect pace and the believability of the plot. Slowly we understand Anna and her tortured psyche. It is very frustrating at times seeing Anna self medicate and get lost in drugs, instead of getting herself together and solving the crime. It is all very convincing and plausible. I absolutely adored links to the brilliant Alfred Hitchcock.

The author expertly gives us an updated version of Rear Window, the 1954 Hitchcock classic. He quotes from various old movies, as the story progresses. Wonderful. I fully appreciated that. He has done a very fine job.

I would recommend this audible version to everyone! Ann Marie Lee also gives justice in narrating this book. She has a very strong understanding of Anna's feelings and struggles. I enjoyed every inch of this audible book. Way to go audible!

Credit To Thr Narrator

Although I enjoyed this book, I feel that a lot of credit should go to the narrator. Thanks to her “performance” I was kept on the edge of my seat and I felt like I was there myself. That is often not the cause with audiobooks.
I enjoyed the character of Anna. She’s flawed and imperfect and I generally enjoy that in a character. I found her relatable. I look forward to seeing what this author has in store next.

What a novel!

I simply loved the plot and twists in this novel. It’s very unexpected and exciting!
The narrator has a beautiful calm voice to listen to and is very good at accents.

Best way to clean my house!

Thank you for this gem.

Decent psychothriller dogged by irritating protagonist

It’s a formulaic thriller reminiscent of noir films like Vertigo, with a twist that is a little predictable. The first reveal is rather transparent but gets dragged out far too long. The protagonist however is the real problem- she is conceived as a hapless yet hubristic wreck and Lee really gets her voice right: thirteen hours of dragging self-pitying helplessness until she finds her fortitude right at the last.

Good Storyline, Narrator not as good

the storyline was very good, an excellent psycological thriller
the Narrator read a little slow which made the book somewhat hard to finisb also not quite the best fitted voice for the caracter but if the reading pace is sped up to 1.20 its much better

Great thriller

At Points it felt hard to understand where exactly the story might be going yet it oddly still managed to keep the readers attention.
So when it culminated in a great twist it just made the read totally worth while.

Okay thriller, I didn’t like the narrator

Not the best books I’ve ridden. There’s not much happening in the first half of the book in my opininion. Second half was good.

But the biggest problem for me was that I didn’t like the narrator at all. She was acting too much instead of just reading the book vividly like good narrator does.
