    "Awesome Short"

This short story is told through the eyes of Brother Yonton a Buddhist Monk, even though his ways most of the time cause his Abbott much grief. But this time while tracking down leads to another problem the monks are working on he comes across someone much more important and sacred to him and his brothers and what is worse is she seems to tied in somehow to the original problem he was working on as she keeps showing up in all the same places.

This was one action packed short story, it never stopped. I loved Yonton from the start and I hope we see more of his brother in the future. This is another great short story to help the main novels along, a glimpse into the lives of other characters, a tangent if you will. But all the same awesome. Narrator of the audiobook, which should not be missed, Michael Bower is great, he puts you right on the streets watching Yonton and Alexa chase each other with matching skills bounding from building to building, watching the two fight back to back with nothing more than a look to know that they are on the same side. Mr. Bower's is really that good, don't miss out.

    "Review of The Warrior Monk"

Yonten really captured my heart in King's Crusade with all his laughter, seriousness, and craziness. In this book you get a glimpse of him in the beginning before things go awry. He is a fierce protector with a crazy humor knowing what he should do and what his heart tells him to even if it gets him in deep water with the Abbot. I always love when a writer gives a glimpse into a characters past of how they came to be and A.D. Starrling did an amazing job here. Michael Bower did an amazing job giving this book a voice and bringing it all to life even more.

    "I liked it."

This short story describes how two (possibly three) main characters meet. I haven't read the series that follows, but based on this story, I am intrigued.

    Story
"One of my favorite characters of the series!"

This book made me nostalgic and I really want to go back and read Warrior now. You see, Yontin, our warrior monk, has been one of my very favorite characters of this series and I miss him! So it was great to spend some time getting to know him again.

This is a short story - only about 45 minutes in audio - the perfect length to listen to at lunch or while you are on the treadmill getting your steps in. This quickie gives us some of Yontin's history... how he ended up at the monastery, what his calling was, and who else was at the monastery giving him orders. It also provides Yontin's first meeting with Alexa King, how he viewed her and why he was so intrigued by the fierce and beautiful warrior.

This is one of my favorite series and if you have been reading it, I urge you not to skip these short stories that provide a little extra insight into our characters. If you can do them in audio, even better. Michael Bower does a great job with the narration. This shorty has me super excited for the next book coming out this month, Origin.

    "Another Viewpoint"

Excellent story and the narrator is perfect! This story gives you the viewpoint of the monk and his mission. Upon discovering Alexis and Jackson his actions change because of who Alexis is. I enjoyed hearing this story and found there was subtle humor which is concerns the warrior monk and praying for his soul, lol!

    Story
"A lot of action in a short story!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Warrior Monk to be better than the print version?

No, but that's because I think the character names are easier to distinguish if you read them.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the fast moving action and the character of Yonten.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No, I think the narrator doesn't always follow the phrasing of the story correctly which is a pity because it is very fast moving and breathing in the wrong place really spoils the flow.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, but it's only short so there isn't really time for that.

    Any additional comments?

I would definitely recommend reading the novels in the series before tackling the shorter stories - there are a lot of fantastic characters involved and you will, in my opinion, enjoy these interludes more if you know more of the stories they are involved in. I really like this series and would recommend it if you like fast moving action.

    "One kickbutt monk!"

I'm perhaps a little biased with my rating for this novella by AD Starrling. I have a great fondness for Yonten, the Warrior Monk in the title who we first meet in the full length novel "Warrior". This novella tells a little more of his story. It is a good fun listen, and definitely recommended to those who enjoy the Seventeen Series.
