Publisher's Summary

National best-selling author Frank Peretti has been hailed as the undisputed master of supernatural thrillers. The New York Times calls him "the dean of the genre." His books have sold more than nine million copies and The Visitation alone has sold more than half a million.

The small town of Antioch, Washington, is a hotbed for spiritual activity. Burned-out minister Travis Jordan has been replaced by a charismatic man who looks and behaves like Christ. Suddenly, the town is abuzz with reports of miracles and religious sightings. But Travis believes the new minister is a false messiah and senses the ominous presence of pure evil.

Filled with thrilling action, The Visitation is also the author’s most personal work. Says Peretti, "It is a searching of my own heart…." Narrator Richard Ferrone delivers a rich, animated performance.

Critic Reviews

"Fans will be relieved to know that Peretti is still dedicated to suspenseful drama, and there's still plenty of spine-chilling mayhem when all hell literally breaks loose on this small-town cast of characters." (Amazon.com)

Captivating Story

What made the experience of listening to The Visitation the most enjoyable?

This story really makes you examine yourself and what you believe. It was so real.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Visitation?

When all hell started to break loose, waiting to see who survived.

What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice added excitement and tension. It was hard to quit listening and could hardly wait till next trip where I could here more. Only disappointing part was when it was over. Great story well told and read.

Any additional comments?

It may be an old book but every Christian should read it.

A Christian Novel... but still a good one!

I am not a Christian and avoid anything labeled as a Christian novel. However, I purchased Frank Peretti's "The Visitation" and downloaded it before discovering that it was of that genre. Having already bought it, I figured I'd give it a try fully expecting to be disappointed and quitting it early on.

I was wrong! This is a well-written and excellently read suspense novel. Not the edge-of-your-seat variety but nonetheless a truly interesting story. You don't need to believe in God and Satan to appreciate the mystery of "The Visitation". After all, I certainly don't believe in vampires, but I enjoyed "Dracula". And Peretti is not the least bit preachy. This is a good listen and I unreservedly recommend it.

Interesting

Overall great story but a little anticlimactic at the end. Also a little more thorough discussion of the precise nature and how the false messiah got his powers would have been interesting.

Best Peretti book.

this is my favorite Peretti book. It's gotten me through a challenging time when I first read it and has gotten me to lean upon Jesus' shoulders again when I read it again. The narration was perfect and I highly suggest anyone to read this book.

My favorite book, a must read for Christians.

Such a great message, with an incredibly gripping story. It feels like Peretti poured his soul into this book. I think Peretti wrote himself into this book more than any other. His explanations of personal experiences sound so real and relatable.

Very Moving

A tragedy, one we each hope to avoid, no...one we each PRAY never happens to ANY of our children. Speak hope, blessings, compassion into your children's lives, not cursings, failure, or disappointment. It matters, it really DOES.

Good book

I usually don't read or listen to "inspirational" books because i find them "sappy" alot of the time. But this book was not sappy! It had enough drama in it to make it a very good book. The plot was good and the narrator was very good. I always found time to listen to it, because
i wanted to see what happens. I would recommend this book!!,

Is he or isn't he?

Various strangers appear to inhabitants of a small town, telling them He is coming. A disillusioned pastor reluctantly finds himself drawn into the expanding sideshow when 'He' arrives, brainwashing the town.
