Good plot that was well done by the group of narrations.

Voices

Good story line on some of the books but the web book I couldn’t stand the lady’s voice which made it difficult to get through.

UGGHH...

I listened for a couple hours. In a 50 hour book this was all I could stand. The story seemed good, and I wanted to listen more. But... nothing personal, but I couldn't handle the narrator. After several wildly mispronounced words, along with sounding like a 12 year old girl reading to a classroom of 6 year olds, I had enough. It wasn't for me.

I liked the series

I have to reiterate I liked the books, they are good stories. What I did not like were the frequent mispronounced words. The last book takes place in North Dakota, which is where I live. I know it’s a book of fiction, but, we have like 1 murder a year in the whole state! So it’s a far reach to have several in a day is a bit much.
But they are good stories.

A lot of hours of listening for the price

The plots are not great and at times, the narration is annoying, but you do get a lot of listening hours for the cost of one book.

Good story, bad narration.

The story lines were suspenseful, but full of cliches. I kept listening though because I bought it and I wanted to know how the books end. But... somebody please help these narrators. I've never been so distracted by such poor enunciation and pronunciation as I was with this set ("Laple" instead of lapel", I had to rewind several times to understand what they were tryingg to say) It's like the first women didn't know how to read, and the second narrator sounded like she was reading the book for the first time. It does get better though-if you can make it through the first book you'll be hooked.

1st narrator killed a good deal

The stories would have all been great if I had read instead of listened. I struggled so hard to get past book 1. Living in NC, I listened to names od cities in my state slaughtered. I stuck with it since I went and read the other reviews and saw where it was narrated by different people after book 1. Holy Cow, I don't mean to be mean but just wow! The stories were pretty good, I enjoyed every one do the books after the 1st. My partner is an avid Audibles listener and happen to walk in while I was struggling through book 1 and flipped out. He thought I was joking about it being an Audibles book. I certainly will never listen again, it is a total return. I don't think many people would listen past book 1, even if it were free

1st narration ruined book

It really was horrible . Elisabeth Langelee’s first language is not English. It was like having a student try to puzzle out a foreign language. She mispronounced common words and her phrasing was grating. The story would have been good I think but it was so hard to get through the story to the next set. The other two narrators were wonderful so I would give the fives on their performance but I must give Ms Langelee a zero. I am socked that any author would allow such a bad narration of their story to be published. Authors listen to the person hired to read your book! A bad narration makes your story look bad!
I bought this set having already read the last two sets so it was particularly disappointing to have the book I bought the set for to be so bad. Such a shame. I am sure Ms Langelee would be great reading French but she should not be hired to read English texts.

Might be a return

Like other reviews mentioned the narrator is horrible! I kept wondering if it was a computer because of the mispronunciation of so many simple words. I find myself turning it off because it gets so annoying. However, I'm still trying to get through the first book so maybe I should wait to review. If I don't return this one, and I feel differently, I'll edit this review.

As far as the story goes in the first book, it's just too ridiculous that a police officer would help the main character with an investigation without the department and the officers working on the case knowing about it. Talk about putting your livelihood on the line! And then that officer gets shot, so the main character (27 or 28 years old) has now put on the officer's uniform and is driving her squad car, has gone to another jurisdiction, is impersonating an officer... No one seems to realize a squad car is missing, etc, etc. I just had to turn it off at that point.

Also, I'd love to let the author know that Belize and Mexico are in Central (or Latin) America and not in South America! Seriously...
