Stories that seem like the magic of Beatrix Potter

I’m loving the Tales by Susan Albert about a fictional Beatrix Potter and the land around her Hill Top Farm. They are a mix of descriptions of the actual area in which Potter lived and a fantasy that includes exciting adventures. You get to know and follow the neighbors of Hill Top Farm, both humans and other animals. The stories of the animals have the texture of Beatrix’s books, but developed further and so that the adventures of humans and animals interweave.
This is all brought to life by the beautiful story telling narration of Virginia Leishman. I appreciate that at the end of the books we hear actual activities of Beatrix Potter during the historical period in which the book is set and aspects of her life that may have inspired the Tale we just heard.
I’m looking forward to more of the Tales by Susan Albert.

Miss Potter never disappoints

Have always loved these books about Miss Potter. I was so very sad when the series ended. I could have listened and read many more.

The Tale of Cuckoo Brow Wood

Totally not what I had expected. Goes back and forth between people and animals (rats).

A Fun Read

I have enjoyed Albert’s fictional series about Beatrix Potter. They seem to be an ideal read for our current world situation. Potter enjoyed her time in the Lake District and found it stimulated her creative ideas for her stories. Albert works on this idea for the stories.

The book is well written and researched. Albert does an excellent job of creating what life might have been like for Potter. The story has people, animals and ,of course, children along with a mystery to solve. Hill Top Farm has a rat problem and, of course, in come the cats to solve it in a true Potter fashion. Some people may object to the anthropomorphizing, but I liked it. Albert is an excellent storyteller. I recommend this book.

The book is ten hours and 2 minutes. Virginia Leishman does an excellent job narrating the series. Leishman is an English actress and well-known audiobook narrator.

Loved it.

Following a series is always fun. I love escaping into the world of nature with a little fairyland added. Albert does a wonderful job weaving her plot into the world of animals and fairies into this one.

I love this author and this series! Can’t wait to start the next book. I always feel like I’m right there in the little farm village with Miss Potter and the animals when I’m reading these…
