Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Lisa Gardner's storytelling powers sweep to an electrifying new level in her second riveting book. The Survivors Club will cement Gardner's reputation as one of the premier writers of suspense.

The rapist left an indelible mark on their lives; now three women must live with the consequences of his violent brutality. But when he's murdered on his way to trial, the police investigation takes a scorching new focus. All three women had a reason to hate him. All three wanted him dead. But which one of them murdered him? Explosively plotted and unnervingly suspenseful, The Survivors Club sizzles from beginning to end.

Wow! Get this one!

It took me a while to get through this book. It was so good that I could do nothing else but listen! No driving, no knitting, no nothin'! As soon as I was fininshed, I started it again. The narrator is very talented. Each character gets a very unique voice. Very richly developed plot and characters. I really felt for them...and was on the edge of my seat. Twisting and turning right along with them.

The Message is Loud and Clear

I have never read a Lisa Gardner book before and the Survivor's Club was on my list as a highly recommended read. I normally don't listen to crime dramas; however, I really enjoyed the suspense in this fast-paced novel. The description of the rapes really brings home the fact of what an act of violence rape is (especially in this story) -- the author handled the subject matter with incredible understanding and empathy, yet getting her point across about the true nature of that hideous crime. The characters are well developed and it kept me listening raptly to all of the twists and turns that one loves in a good crime mystery. I plan on reading her other books now.

Exceeded my expectations

This was a good story with good characters and good narration. Detective Griffin was a particularly well-developed character and one I would follow if this book was part of a continuing series. The mystery wasn't exceeding perplexing but this didn't take away from the enjoyment of the unfolding of events. This was my first book by Lisa Gardner and I will read her again.

Exciting page-turner

Excellent writing and read well by the narrator, this book is full of twists and turns and you'll make up reasons to keep the headphones on, if you have to. The characters are nicely developed and sympathetic. The story is compelling and gets more exciting as you go. Wish this author had more unabridged books on tape.

Another Awesome Edge-of-the-Seat Book from Gardner

Just finished listening to both unabridged books available by Lisa Gardner, wish you had more!! Can't believe I haven't discovered her before now. She writes interesting characters and stories and great puzzles.

One of her best.

Exciting from beginning to end. Great character development. The best of the books by her to which I have listened. They were all very good, but this is her best.

Great Build Up...Ending Not So Much!

I have to admit that I am not a huge Gardner fan, but I like the DD Warren series a lot. I say that to say that maybe I'm a little biased (don't know) but this story had me hooked right from the beginning and had me glued to listening up to about three quarters of the story... then, the story started to fall flat and I lost interest in knowing the outcome. The ending was not horrible but it was a little muddled.

The story is about three women who were raped or one of their family members were. The story had a very interesting plot line but as I said, it was near the end where I lost interest because I think that some of the actions of the characters were a little bit ridiculous. A prisoner escapes but not before killing six guards who were transporting him in a van (huh?). One or two maybe, but six....I couldn't suspend my disbelief in that situation because most of the rest of the story made sense to me or didn't ask me to believe something that was too too too ridiculous!

The narrator was okay. I am not that familiar with east coast accents but I remember thinking that some of the male characters sounded a little too much like what I think of as the "mafia" sounds and tone of voice. It was a little off putting for me.

TERRIFIC!

This may well be one of the best suspense books I've ever read. Really leaves you on the edge of your seat and guessing the whole time. Very well written and while Anna Fields is not one of my favorite narrators (none the less she seems to be showing up more and more as a narrator), she does an excellent job on both male and female voices. I really loved this book and highly recommend it.

Great Fun!

This is my second audio-book by this author. The story is excellent and fast-paced. The narrator was excellent, giving each character a consistent voice. I listen while I drive, and I found myself sitting in my car, several times, after I had arrived at my destination, because I did not want to turn the story off. I highly recommend this author and narrator for fast-paced entertainment. It's tough to find this level of enjoyment for 10+ hours at this price.

Loved it!

Totally enjoyable, with great characters, romance, action, mystery. The narrator Anna Fields is SO GOOD, I looked her up, she's done 76 books on Audible.com. She did a wonderful job with The Killing Hour also, another 5-star book. I only wish Audible had more Lisa Gardner books!
