Not what I expected but excellent none the less

I didn't see anywhere in the review that this book was about the holocaust. It was slightly descriptive. Some people may be bothered by the atrocities. One of the main characters Nana had written a book in her youth. This story is intertwined throughout the book. Nana had written the book during the Nazi occupation. The Storyteller is actually of the here and now with stories from the holocaust playing a big part of the book. I thought it was very interesting, very sad, very dark, and very emotional. I won't give the ending away but from a legal viewpoint it is not very believable. Lots of questions in my mind regarding evidence.
I liked the use of 5 narrators and Edoardo Ballerini is one of my favorite narrators.

Loved it

Great story! I was captured by Sage, Minka, Leo, and Josef. Great story of how our choices affect so many others.

Great story, but some parts are graphic.

Great story. Mostly performed well. However, part of the tale focuses on occupied Poland during WW2 so, some scenes can be very hard to hear. Trigger warnings for anyone that doesn't want to hear about Nazis, violence, or torture.

Very deep and thought provoking.

Where does The Storyteller rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This entire series ranks among my favorites.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of the characters were well developed with Sage being my favorite.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good job well done. It was all taking place in my head. They made it easy to visualize. My heart aches. I cried and laughed out loud. This book gives a lot to think about.

Any additional comments?

I would put my head set on click play and be busy in the garden or other chores. I was so tuned into the book that I wasn't aware of just how much I was accomplishing. Thank you Jodi!

Loved this book!

Any additional comments?

This book is divided into 3 parts. Honestly, the first part was a bit of a snore, but I liked the narrators and the story was okay, so I kept it up. Part 2 was captivating. It's a historical fiction reference to World War II, told by a prisoner and two of the Nazi Officers. I could hardly stop listening. Part 3 was good as well, with a good twist along the way.
Enjoy!

enjoyable

I liked the characters voices and really got lost in the story. Granted the story and what is going on can be very dark but I like the way you saw it from a human perspective, and from the other side.

This is more of a note to myself:

This book was about a scarred woman who has a grandma who is a holocaust survivors. And man who asks her to kill him is a ex high ranking Nazi who has crossed paths with grandmother - the grandmother's story was pretty touching, the bakery, father, escape and hardship she went through during the holocaust. And it is pretty sweet how the FBI agent and her got along...
