Publisher's summary

The store is watching you.

Jacob and Megan Brandeis have gotten jobs with the megasuccessful, ultrasecretive Store. Seems perfect. Seems safe. But their lives are about to become anything but perfect, anything but safe.

Always watching.

Especially since Jacob and Megan have a dark secret of their own. They're writing a book that will expose the Store - a forbidden book, a dangerous book.

Always.

And if the Store finds out, there's only one thing Jacob, Megan, and their kids can do - run for their bloody lives. Which is probably impossible, because...

The store is always watching.

Save your credit!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This story just did not make sense to me. I listened without any distractions and came away feeling like I had been scammed, like in the story.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Anything but a "New" James Patterson book. I'm a JP fan from waaay back but this was absolute garbage.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Graham Halstead?

If forced Kevin Pierce, he can make any listening experience better, but I'm not sure it would have made much difference with this one.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger for having wasted a credit

Good story, great performance but...

I enjoyed it but the twist ending was a little lackluster for me. It does make you think about Big Brother always watching in today's tech world.

Did Someone Say Amazon?

Did someone say Amazon? This is truly the new 1984 or Brave New World. It felt eerily prescient. Job well done!

The Store by James Patterson

This is probably the worse book I have ever read from James Patterson. I am a huge fan and should have paid attention to the reviews. The complete store line was bad. I follow and read several of his Store lines I. E. Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, Woman's Murder Club. I will pay attention to reviews from now on. Wasted my money.

Great story but....

I love James Patterson. I also love Bentley Little. I don't know if Patterson ever read Bentley's version of "The Store" but this is like a well written contemporary version of the same tale. I enjoyed this book but it gets a low score on originality. If you haven't read Little's book- it definitely is edgier and creepier than Patterson's.

Fiction but so close to reality

Substitute Google, Amazon, Facebook, or Twitter and it's no longer fictional. We can only hope for the same ending. Excellent book!!!!!

First time disappointed...

I really enjoy Patterson. I was a little worried about the story being so short. The story did not have real depth to it. I feel like it was written by an early author. The story was simple and so predictable. I am so sorry I spent money on this. It has made me wonder if I should continue with the subscription. A few of my last books are disappointing for the price. It wouldn't be so bad if I had spent a few dollars on a used paperback of this. The narrator was very good.

It's like he just sat down and out it came

OK, just OK. I suspect he just finished watching the Firm, purchasing something from Amazon, competed the Circle and mashed it all together.

Some areas could have used more content, but as a short, pretty good.
