Publisher's summary

When Aline Griffith was born in Pearl River, New York, in 1923, one might have guessed from her exceptional beauty that a career as an actress or model might be in her future. Few would have imagined that twenty-one years later, she would find herself in Spain as a deep-cover OSS agent, infiltrating the highest levels of Spanish society, or that five years later still, she would marry a Spanish grandee and become one of the most watched, most admired, most fascinating women of international society. This is the story of Aline, Countess of Romanones, a story of courage, beauty and success that is far more exciting than any fictionalized thriller.

The Narration of this Book Was So Poor I Quit

What would have made The Spy Wore Red better?

The narration was flat and uninspired, so poor, in fact, that I was unable to finish listening to the book.

Not going to finish.

I generally enjoy spy non fiction, history etc. This book was just unbelievable. Sort of a good beach listen, but nothing else.
Narrator excellent, too bad the story is beyond belief.

Intriguing story, excellent reader.

Aline's story is unique, very interesting and well written. The reader does a fantastic job! I've listened to this story several times and enjoy it every time. There's suspense, history, romance and danger. Incredible to consider this is a true story.

Reallife WWII thriller.

Why shouldn't I want to fight for my country? Aline asked that question to her blind date one night. Turned out he was John Derby, a director of OSS and so Aline was offered a chance to become an OSS agent.

Not great not terrible

I would suggest you listen to this only if you have no other spy novel options. Very little intrigue. It just is.

So interesting

What a good book can see where they get 007 early movie stories from. This is a great read!

as enthralling as a novel

Very interesting, well narrated. Although I guessed the main plot twist early on, I was still enchanted by this lovely title. It was, if anything, a bit TOO much like a novel.
My only critisism is if you want historical background, I think itcould havecontained more.
