Way ahead of Christie

Christi has nothing on Ellis Peters! This is classic Peters! One of my favorite books!

Another great Cadfael Story

This book differs from most in that the story revolves around a strong and self-confident woman who, because she is s widow, owns her own business. With many twists and turns, it will keep you guessing!

Well written and well read.

Ellis Peters’ best so far in the series, I think. Cunning plot twists left me guessing for all of the book. Delightful prose, inspiring and thoughtful thoughts and a great cast of characters.

Peter Tull was born to read these stories. His Normans sound Norman, common folk sound common, and Brother Cadfael has an endearing Welsh brogue! Fine acting!

A very compelling listen

I bought this book because I am a huge fan of narrator Patrick Tull. I had listened to his reading all the way through the Patrick OBrian Aubrey-Maturian series. I am glad I did buy it because I found this Brother Cadfael novel to be very entertaining. You have to hang in there a bit if you start with this book because you don't have any of the backstory. That said, once you sort out the characters the book stands alone apart from the rest of the series. I will go back and start reading this new series from the beginning.

A shorter story than other Cadfael books.

if you love the TV series, this story is pretty close to the adaptation of it. They made Niall the bronzesmith more prickly on TV. A good story overall, but shorter than other Cadfael books.

Brother Cadfael Comes Through Again

I really enjoyed this one. A solid story with the usual, languid style of Ellis Peters told with the perfect, lilting narration of Patrick Tull. And Brother Cadfael solves it all in good time, although it isn’t too hard to see who the bad guy is.

Patrick Tull reads Ellis Peters ... Great!!!

I have been an Ellis Peters fan for many years, and I found the Books-on-Tape Brother Cadfael books, that were read by Patrick Tull, in my local library years ago. I was dissappointed to NOT find them at Audible when I became a member. I am now enjoying myself listening to them again as Audible aquires them.

Patrick Tull is a wonderful reader. He seems to really enjoy the very texture of Ellis Peters' words, and this makes the Brother Cadfael books even better than they already are.

Thanks Audible - and thanks for getting the Ellis Peters "Inspector Felse" mysteries, too. Please get ALL of the B-O-T Ellis Peters recordings!!!!

Cadfael sees it through

Content with his choice? Only so long as God sees fit to send him puzzles. We'll done again, Ellis Peters.
