Publisher's summary

Former covert ops agent Tom Sexton is living quietly in rural Vermont. Running a diner with his girlfriend, Stella, he thinks that the worst he's seen, done, and suffered is finally behind him. But when a long-hidden specter from his troubled past emerges, Tom is shaken out of his safe, furtive life. With no choice but to lock and load, Tom falls back into a world where valor and violence collide...and his isn't the only life in danger.

Summoned into the ranks of top-secret intelligence, Tom is tasked with protecting a teenage girl targeted by agents of an infamous mercenary. It's a high-risk mission that will pit all his combat and espionage skills against ruthless paramilitary hit squads. Leading them is a legendary and mysterious killer for hire who's making Tom doubt everything, and everyone, he has come to believe in. Even himself.

Surrounded by enemies he can't see and allies he can no longer trust, Tom will have to face alone the fatal fury of a madman - if only to save the woman he left behind.

Great 2nd

I liked it better than the first. Well done. Good action, interesting characters and I really appreciate that you are good with your weapons... I'm a gun guy and it's really great not to be patronized. The marlin camp carbine, the CZ, the glock (I'm not a fan boy, you mention the high bore axis), the HK, the sig... All good cslls and at the end the new Kimber k6s... Thanks for giving your readers credit for having a brain, and maybe even a little experience.

Elena's importance was unspecified for too long. The beginning was a bit difficult to follow

Plenty of action!

There are some really powerful women in this volume (we already knew Stella was strong)! Mysteries and several questions answered. It's good enough for me to keep going with the series. It must be me, but I still (from book 1) have a hard time keeping all the people straight. That's what lost the one star for me. The narrator is fine for reading, but his accents aren't there. The Nigerian guy supposedly had a sort-of French accent according to the witnesses, but there was no accent in the narration. The only one he managed was the SAS guy from Scotland, but he didn't sound Scottish--he sounded South African to me, but what do I know.

The fine action and good-guy team are enough to keep reading for. Although one mystery has been cleared up, some more have arisen. So let's keep it up!

Excellent story worthy of your time

This drama never wants to end. The suspense, lies, back stabbing, never knowing what is true or who to believe. This will make a wonderful who done it movie.
The narration by Pete Simonell was superb. Of course we are left with a cliff hanger for the next chapter.

Great Character Possibilities - Can Author Deliver

Daniel Judson has developed a variety of potentially good characters - more than just the 2 apparent leads (Tom and Charlie). Can he split them and occasionally bring them back together without taking the easy way out by simply killing one or the other?

Likewise, lightly used characters like Grune could prove interesting. I look forward to seeing where Judson goes with his story and character development. In my opinion, he's off to a very good start.

Very good read and barely OK narration..

So, this author is very knowledgeable about guns, ALL KINDS of guns, or he was sitting with a list right next to him as he wrote this book. What a lot of male authors tend to forget is not all women read romances all the time. So, don’t give us a description of weapons on every page but do tell us what someone looks like, other than the scars on their all over their bodies. The only one that was really described was Krista and that was only because she had blue hair and a face full of piercings.

I did enjoy this book more than I did The Temporary Agent but I don’t know think I’ll read the third book, due out February 2019. By that time I will have read 150+ books and won’t even remember who the players are.

Anyway, two of the main bad guy got everything they deserved but the real bad guy got away again. This wasn’t a cliffhanger but you were left without answers.

Both Cahill and Tom were in this, fighting together and separately. AND it was the four women: Stella, Krista, Valena and Grunn who took care of the one bad guy. That’s what he got for calling Stella a stupid American woman. It was excitement throughout the book. BUT waaay too much information on the weapons.

There was nothing sexual and the F-bomb was used 19 times.

As to the narration: Please see my review of book One, The Temporary Agent to see how I feel about Pete Simonelli (aka Sebastian York) who really needs to get better. If you're going to have several women in a book then get someone who can TRY to do a woman's voice.

I will admit that it was really, really nice reading this kind of book and it was NOT written in the first person. Nice to know what others were thinking or doing and not just the MC's.

Riveting Read

I was eagerly awaiting the sequel to The Temporary Agent and was not disappointed in the least. I read it when it was first published and decided to listen to The Rogue Agent when it came out. After beginning to listen and enjoy the narrator bring to life precisely and perfectly each character, I decided to add the narration to the book (The Temporary Agent) and listened, thoroughly enthralled by it more than when I just read it. The Rogue Agent further fleshed out the characters and their journeys as well as adding new characters I am eager to learn more about in the next novel (hopefully very soon). Mr. Judson writes novels that totally transport me on adventures with characters I want to know and know more about. So creative! Mr. Simonelli has become one of my all time favorite narrators; I can't imagine anyone else capturing the characters in the same way.
