Publisher's summary

San Diego homicide detective Holly Jennings is back in The Preference, and she is hunting the most sadistic killer she's faced yet.

Do you prefer red or white? It's a simple question....

When couples from Las Vegas to Colorado Springs receive emails with an offer to win a free trip to Napa Valley by simply stating their preference of either red or white wine, little do they know the killing spree their "preferences" sets in motion.

He calls himself The Connoisseur....

He stalks and murders young, beautiful, red-headed or blonde women, depending on the preference of "his clients". The Connoisseur is methodical, sadistic, and with a need to seek what he considers justice for himself.

Homicide detective Holly Jennings wants nothing more than to nail The Connoisseur. However, when his next victim doesn't fit his modus operandi, Holly has to consider the possibility of two killers, a copycat, or a hunter who may actually know how to outwit her.

Ella Jennis is a brunette from a wealthy winery family out of Temecula, California. When disturbing photos of Ella in captivity surface on the Internet, Holly is certain that time is running out to save the latest preference.

A.K. Alexander is a New York Times best-selling author. She lives in San Diego with her family.

Great story.

The only thing I didn't like was when the narrator did the voices for the police. It sounded almost silly and took away from the story. The book was good however.

ok book

I hated the fact that the ending seemed unfinished to many questions unanswered. It wasn't as suspenseful as it could have been.

Great storyline!

What did you love best about The Preference?

This has a great back story, I need to check out the other books by this author.

Have you listened to any of Angel Clark’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Angel does an excellent job of narrating this one. From reading previous reviews, it seems that the written format has many typos and grammatical errors. She seems to flow through and make it sound so good!

Suspenseful and a pinch disturbing...

Overall, I found the story to be well-written. The characters were definitely likeable. (I found myself craving wine!)

Angel Clark's narration, especially with the antagonist, was very well done. I almost came to pity said antagonist.

I felt that the ending was a bit lackluster, however.

Good.

The lure of a trip to Napa, by selection your chose of wine, red or white proves deadly in this plot. Enjoyable narration by Angel. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

What a crazy killer

Is it nature or nurture that creates a serial killer? In the case of this story, I think it's both. Damon was certainly one nut job serial killer. Most of his issues stem from a traumatic childhood, but I think he was born with some of that already in him. People can have traumatic childhoods and grow up into a "normal" functioning human.

I didn't care for the way the narrator spoke as the killer Damon. I found it really annoying. Beyond that, it was a good and intense story about a very psychotic killer. I liked the fighting spirit of Jenna. A good story.
