Meh

I really hated narrator. Hated. The intonation of the narrator's sentences; how his volume dropped off at the end of every sentence even though not every sentence is *that* thrilling was incredibly obnoxious. I like the story. The author's descriptions are sometimes grotesque, but overall I enjoyed it.

a great listen

I'm a big fan of rickstad and the silent girls so I enjoyed this sequel. the narrator did a great job and I'm sure anyone would find this to be a captivating book to read or listen to.

The story might've been good...

The story might've been good, but it was so over-narrated that I couldn't get past the first few chapters. Maybe I'll try the old fashioned version of this one instead.

Tight story good narration

The story develops well. The characters are real, somewhat flawed human beings with daemons. I rather liked the ending.

Very good procedural...

This book really held my attention. The publisher's summary does an excellent job setting up the plot.
In this book the protagonist, Frank Rath is fearful for his daughter's safety. The man who murdered her parents has been released from prison. Up until recently she hadn't even known they had been murdered, she had thought they had died in an accident. Rath had been in a hotel room with a woman when he was supposed to be at his sister's helping her out with his birthday dinner. Instead he found his sister and brother in law murdered and his niece in her crib. Rath adopted his niece.
This book is full of high tension cat and mouse ?games? Someone's watching. Someone is doing more killing and a woman goes missing who was a victim of the freed murderer. She survived last time , will she survive again?
The story seems to be so straight forward. I really thought it was so predictable and so easy. Guess again, I was totally wrong and totally floored!
Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating.

Good story, narrator awful

Good sorry. Eric Rickstad did not disappoint. I nearly stopped listening due to the narrator. Very dramatic. Sounded like an old school tv detective. He made it hard to get through the story

As big a surprise as the first.

even though, after listening to the first book in the series, I was expecting a twistat the end, I was still surprised by what and how the story turned out. this writer writes his characters very well. The narrator was a little strange, kind of like listening to Charlie Sheen read the book. Overall though, it was a great listen.

Thrilling suspense

loved it. The suspense keeps you wanting more. wishing there were more to listen to

Powerful story, and frightening

Excellent story, with many twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end. Fair warning-- skip it if you don't have a strong stomach. There are descriptions in here about gory murders that are very graphic, and even as someone with a strong stomach for horror movies, I found myself cringing here and there. The characters are terrific, as they are in the other Eric Rickstad books I've listend to. This was the best of the Frank Rath series for me, and I'd love to hear more stories featuring the same characters.

satisfying sequel

I enjoyed the continuing story line and the tidying up that occurred. however I'm still wanting more, so I'm grateful it sounds like another book will be in the series!
