Publisher's Summary

Ten years ago, the spy satellite Medusa burned upon re-entry - but not before its sensors revealed a secret buried deep in the earth. A priceless discovery that some would die to find - and kill to possess.

With uncanny talent as a geologist and a quick intelligence matched by savvy and courage, Philip Mercer is fast becoming a legend in powerful circles around the world. And at least two groups in those circles need his help. One group - of unknown allegiance and with a reputation for violence - snatches and holds hostage his oldest friend, forcing Mercer to help them.

In a harsh and hostile land ravaged by violence, Mercer races to find the one thing that will save his friend. But the location of this ancient treasure is elusive. He is thwarted by brutal competing forces, and suddenly, he learns that there is much more at stake than either his life or the life of an old friend: The fate of thousands of innocent souls depends on him - and him alone.

Solid Series With 1 Exception

Any additional comments?

Mr. DuBrul could improve this and future writing by implying more of the adult romantic actions of the characters rather than going into detail about it. The inclusion of these graphic sexual encounters will limit my circle of friends to whom I will recommend it.

As dependable as Cussler, except....

I enjoy the Phillip Mercer books in general, the relationship between Mercer and Harry White especially but in this novel there was an Italian character that the narrator managed to make into Count Dracula. Maybe it was just me but it was difficult to get past on this listen.

OH BOY WHERE TO START

Generally OK but the mine scenes are incredibly hard to follow and the reason might be they are this way on purpose. I'm no mine expert but good heavens this guy is lucky. Of course he's also a great mercenary fighter type too. I am an expert in that area and you can not be an expert shot, tactician, expert martial artist, world class geologist, etc. all at the same time before the age of 40 and in top shape. Maybe I should read other types. Pretty good reading, accents and voices.

Narration is worse than horrible

Would you try another book from Jack Du Brul and/or J. Charles?

No

Has The Medusa Stone turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of J. Charles?

Anybody terrible recording read too fast and stupid phone noise just annoying

What character would you cut from The Medusa Stone?

Didn't finish only listen for 30 minutes , couldn't stand the narration and speed of dictation

Any additional comments?

Do not waste money on this recording, crap recording , too fast , am annoyed I spent good Canadian money on this
