Publisher's summary

In a “sexy, suspenseful read,” #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts delivers “a slow-burning fuse of a plot that ultimately explodes in a nail-biting conclusion".

Shelby Foxworth lost her husband. Then she lost her illusions....

The man who took her from Tennessee to an exclusive Philadelphia suburb left her in crippling debt. He was an adulterer and a liar, and when Shelby tracks down his safe-deposit box, she finds multiple IDs. The man she loved wasn’t just dead. He never really existed.

Shelby takes her three-year-old daughter and heads south to seek comfort in her hometown, where she meets someone new: Griff Lott, a successful contractor. But her husband had secrets she has yet to discover. Even in this small town, surrounded by loved ones, danger is closer than she knows - and threatens Griff, as well. And an attempted murder is only the beginning...

Okay book

The story dragged. Some of the characters were great. Griff loved him, Viola was amazing and Forest was another favorite but the story was predictable. You will know who did what and they takes aways from a great book.

Entertaining.

A good listen. Predictable plot but stays interesting. An ideal book to offer escape and a happy ending.

Wonderful and rich storytelling , full of twists

As with most book form Nora Robert's, this story held my interest from start to finish with the wonderful and rich storytelling style. In the rollercoaster of happy and sad moments, the suspense of knowing the something threatening is looming kept me forging ahead.

Disappointing

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It is too predictable, too slow, very little real drama and you can see it all coming. No surprises.

What do you think your next listen will be?

The Stranger by Harlen Corbin

Could you see The Liar being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not enough going on for a movie

A page turner

As usual, Nora Roberts has woven a heartwarming tale of mystery and love set in the hills of Tennessee. You'll fall in love with the characters and the storyline. Kudos, Nora!!!

At last, good southern accents

What made the experience of listening to The Liar the most enjoyable?

I love Nora Roberts. I appreciated the journey. I read for enjoyment not for terror or the bizarre. I love a romance and generational families.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Griff

What does January LaVoy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings the characters to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I love Griff's confusion.

Any additional comments?

So many narrators fail to learn about accents and they convey false and irritating dialects. As a southerner this gets on my last nerve. There are many dialects in TN and in fact within a city. January LaVoy did a great job.
