Publisher's summary

The National Best Seller and a Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick

“Will keep you up. In a ‘can’t put it down’ way. It’s ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ with XX chromosomes.” (The Skimm)

“Deliciously duplicitous. . . . equally as twisty, spellbinding, and addictive as Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the Train.” (Library Journal, starred review)

Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.

To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.

Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan. Amber uses Daphne's compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family's life - the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long Amber is Daphne's closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked toward, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.

With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent.

Up in the Air

Part 1 was so hard to get through. Amber is the most unlikeable character- which was the point- but so much so that I almost didn’t want to continue with the book. Part 1 also draggggggs, whereas part 2 is quicker paced and in my opinion a bit better from Daphne’s pov as opposed to Ambers whiny ass. Overall I don’t get the raving reviews. Maybe it is because I listened to this book after the wife between us? Not sure but it was hard to get through, Part 2 & 3 almost made it worth the million hours Part 1 dragged on.

OMG I love this book!

I mostly read nonfiction, but was feeling like I needed an escape. My husband and I loved this book. We recently took a trip to California for Thanksgiving and listen to this on our road trip. This is the only thing that kept us awake on the last leg of our trip. It is very suspenseful and will definitely keep you hanging on every word. highly recommend very enjoyable!!!

Thank you Mrs. PARISH!

It's been a long time since I've listened to something this entertaining. If you enjoy stories of deception, revenge, and fully realized characters, you'll want to treat yourself to this dark delight! Oh, and... YMB! (Gotta listen to know what that means...)

Annoying and mesmerizing drove me nuts.

This book is one of those I would have thrown across the room, several times screaming at the characters. With audible I can’t do that. My friend who recommended it kept telling me to continue reading. I would actually call her up and yell at her because every character in the book made me want to scream. At certain points I would exclaim my frustration and disgust out loud while reading it!! Glad I hung in there. Fun diabolical twist which is what I had hoped for.

The book is well written and the narration compelling. I actually had some interesting insights during some of the more twisted scenes; not realizing the book was having an effect on me until after my tantrums of not being able to bear one more mention of how wonderful the protagonist thought the demon was. I don’t want to go into detail about the story because it may ruin it for you. And misery loves company. I’d be curious if anyone else was driven crazy by it. So let me know and enjoy.

you won't regret it

This book is up there with Gone Girl and The Wife Between Us. I re-listen to this every year, it's so good, so satisfying. When friends ask me for book recommendations - this is the trio I give them!

Great book

I really enjoyed this book, it was suggested in another set of reviews I was reading. Some savage stupidly and annoyingly left a summary of the story on a review AFTER starting out with what the ending was in the book with no spoiler warnings. I already purchased a credit, so I listened anyways. If I wouldn’t have known what the ending was, it would have been a huge surprise up until it was revealed. But since I knew, I wasn’t as intrigued as I would have been, but, it was still a really good story line, the narrator was great, and the book kept me entertained the whole way thru. I kept wanting to go back and listen even with knowing the plot. Please, don’t leave the ending to any books on a review unless you warn people beforehand. It’s so rude.

Good read even better on Audible

Although not a classic, this is a great listen. It was good to read, but I got even more out of the narration. I loved the protagonist; in so many of the books in this genre the protagonist is almost as bad as the protagonist. It was nice to be able to have someone to side with.

Shallow, unlikable characters

I'm about half way through this audible book. I'm going to finish it, but it's rough going for me. There is not one character who is likable or good, not one character who is developed to the point of being compelling and interesting to me. I find the details about the wealthy peoples' lives to be superficial and stereotypical. Not only do I not care about the protagonist, I actively dislike her. Nor have I been able to care about the wealthy woman and her children.
Like I said, I'm only half way through. I hope to find out why so many other readers/listeners liked this book so much!

thoroughly enjoyed the book and narration.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. ALso, the narrator's voice and inflection was especially pleasing; I'll look for more of her work.

Not What I expected

I enjoyed the ending of this book. I hated Amber, but I think she was written to be hated. What happened to Daphne was unfortunate and I’m glad she got out and ended up happy. Jackson deserved being arrested and humiliated since his reputation and appearance was of utmost importance to him. And the thought that Amber may end up worse off than she was (financially) brings a smile to my face.
