Publisher's summary

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

Flynn is back.

Would you listen to The Last Man again? Why?

No, but that is only because I never listen to a book twice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Last Man?

All of it, just having Rapp back is awesome.

Any additional comments?

Flynn is one of the best and so is Guidall.

Still the best

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story is great, the reader is great, and there is plenty of action. In fact, it's hard to make yourself stop when you get where you are going if you are in the middle of a good scene!

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

George Guidall's voices are always right on. You get inflection in the discussion that you wouldn't have reading with just your eyes.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Would have liked to listen to it all in one sitting but we weren't traveling that far! We did get it all done on one trip, but it was in a couple of sessions.

Any additional comments?

Thank you, Vince Flynn, for creating someone this good. Can't wait to see what his head injury does for him in the next book.

Mitch Rapp

Interesting, current, installment in the Mitch Rapp series. Some issues don't flow smoothly, but the book holds your interest and delves into Washington politics. It is well set up for another sequel.

Clandestinely Fascinating

Loved it much better than the last one because, Nash didn't totally get on my nerves this go around. Narrator was spot on! It kept me on the edge of my seat! Thank you.

Love Mitch but

Love Mitch Rapp series with one exception. I get the “bad guy” image but I still do not think that necessitates the extensive foul language used. In fact it seems to be getting more invasive. I would have to look and see if this book is by the new author or not. If it is, COOL IT! It adds absolutely no benefit to the story and in fact also does not show talent. Anyone can use gutter language. That does not take talent. It is evidence of a lack of talent. That is why I gave it a 3 star and the only reason.

Great Story

Another hit! This is a great series and I have enjoyed every one read and the two audio books. The narrator is excellent! I hope he does the next in series.
