An interesting listen with some decent twist but..

What made the experience of listening to The King the most enjoyable?

The narration is good and the storyline keeps you hooked and intrigued for the most part.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The King?

I like what Raven does to her abductor in the car.

Which scene was your favorite?

I like the interaction scenes between Patrick and his daughter.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

You could not make a film out of this book and do it justice.

Any additional comments?

This was a pretty interesting book maybe a little dark and gory for some and I think it is ironic that this series is an Inspirational book series because I do not find that they offer any good uplifting inspirations. Of course if you used the reasoning and logic of Agent Bowers inspiration does not necessarily have to be for the good and more likely people are inspired to act on the evil that is in them. I do not listen to these books for any great inspirations anyway but purely for the mystery and intrigue of the story. This book hooks you right at first and does a pretty good job of keeping your attention through out but there are a few eye roller moments, places where it tends to drag, get a little to technical and some scenes you can see coming from a long way off. Also I was disappointed in the ending with a anthropophagus gnawing its way through the chapters of the next book as I was hoping for something different to digest. Overall if you like mystery and intrigue this book does a pretty good job of delivering.

James is a master at weaving plots

Where does The King rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Certainly is among the best

Who was your favorite character and why?

Patrick Bowers, detective, is at his best. Less blood, guts and gore did no harm to the plotline. Suspense was tight all the way. I saw more depth in the other characters and really came to like Ralph a lot. Tessa is more real in this story.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the scene where he shot Bask with firm decision.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Patrick Bowers at his best.

Any additional comments?

I still miss transition sentences when the scenes jump back and forth, causing a head jolt. The research in this series is phenomenal. Well done, Steven James!

Excellent book in Bowers File collection

As with all of the Bowers File books, this one didn't disappoint. Great storyline that kept my interest all the way to the end. Richard Ferrone is the best at narrating this series.

I love the entire Jack Bowers Series. I can't wait to see what's next. Can the Author come close to the first few installments? We have to wait and see.

Series is tired....

I have read all the Steven James books in the series (except the last "flashback" novel). I have worked in the field of crime analysis and Geospatial analysis for years and quite enjoyed his take on using Patrick Bowers approach to crime solving using these tools. The first several books kept me on the edge of my seat but this one was so predictable it was quite boring. The villains are tired and almost comical at this point. And, how many times does his poor daughter need to be the finale in the plot? The narration was not terrible but his take on Tessa is not at all what I would expect from the sophisticated and brilliant teen. I cringed every time a character spoke that was not a main male character.

Weary of Richard Devin Bask

I have listened to every book in this series, in order. Steven James' writing style and Richard Ferrone's narration are both pleasing.

However, Richard Devin Bask is too prevalent in this book. He has been in the background for much of the series, springs into the main plot in the last book, and is now on the loose again. Personally, I am getting sick of hearing about this guy.

The real sad part of this is that there is a secondary plot that could have been expanded to a whole book. It seems that the research on counterfeit prescription drugs is well done and the story line is plausible. I am disappointed that it did not get more emphasis.

I will probably listen to one more book in the series, but my earlier enthusiasm is waning.
