Publisher's Summary

Audie Award Winner, Thriller/Suspense, 2014

From David Baldacci - number-one best-selling author and one of the world's most popular, widely read storytellers - comes the most thrilling novel of the year.

Will Robie is a master of killing.

A highly skilled assassin, Robie is the man the U.S. government calls on to eliminate the worst of the worst - enemies of the state, monsters committed to harming untold numbers of innocent victims.

No one else can match Robie's talents as a hitman...no one, except Jessica Reel. A fellow assassin, equally professional and dangerous, Reel is every bit as lethal as Robie. And now, she's gone rogue, turning her gun sights on other members of their agency.

To stop one of their own, the government looks again to Will Robie. His mission: bring in Reel, dead or alive. Only a killer can catch another killer, they tell him.

But as Robie pursues Reel, he quickly finds that there is more to her betrayal than meets the eye. Her attacks on the agency conceal a larger threat, a threat that could send shockwaves through the U.S. government and around the world.

Nothing Outstanding About This

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I almost didn't write a review as I couldn't think of anything outstanding about this book. And then decided that is a review. I plodded through it....was an okay listen but nothing grabbed at me and made me listen. This is why I love mysteries...the grab.

What was most disappointing about David Baldacci’s story?

The story just became more and more ridiculous. The last few chapters were silly.Private jet travel going from continent to continent willy nilly ...well I didn't buy it.
It's fiction I know but give me something possible to grab onto.

What three words best describe Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s voice?

McLarty was strong and believable. Cassidy's was weak.

You have to get this book!

If you could sum up The Hit in three words, what would they be?

Thriller, Suspenseful, Shocking

What did you like best about this story?

The amazing and shocking side of N. Korea.

Which character – as performed by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy – was your favorite?

A tie between Will Robie and John Puller for Ron and Orlagh is great as all the female characters but I love Jessica Riel!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I save my audio books for my work commute.

Any additional comments?

I want more Robie and Reil!

Will Robie a no nonsense kind of hero

After reading The Innocent, I felt The Hit would be a great read and I was not disappointed. I know I am late getting the Baldacci express but I think I have found an author that keeps the pace fast and the action interesting. At least he did in this installment. I will be following Will Robie & company's adventures in the future.

Jessica makes a great addition to the series

Jessica Reel is the female counterpart to Will Robie. She is every bit as good as he is and at times it is hard to tell where she ends and he begins. Unfortunately, she finds herself on the wrong side of the law and Will is dispatched to eliminate her threat. At times, it is hard to tell exactly what he will do - kill her or join her, but it seems apparent the entire time that there's more to the story of her being rogue than meets the eye. As usual, a governmental conspiracy is at the heart of the controversy and at times, it seems, there is no way out for either Jessica or Will. How they move from bad guys to welcome members of the fold is artfully handled by the author. You find yourself pushing for them to get together and overcome the government conspirators. I highly recommend to anyone who likes Baldacci or just any good spy novel.
