Publisher's Summary

When Cyrus Barker and Thomas Llewelyn are hired to find a girl from the upper classes who has gone missing in the East End, they assume her kidnapping is the work of white slavers. But when they discover five girls have been murdered in Bethnal Green, taunting letters begin to arrive in Craig's Court from a killer calling himself Mr. Miacca.

Barker fears that Miacca might be part of the Hellfire Club, a group of powerful, hedonistic aristocrats performing satanic rituals. He must track the fiend to his hideout, while Llewelyn confronts the man who put him in prison.

Dodging muckrakers, navigating the murky Thames under cover of darkness, and infiltrating London's most powerful secret society, The Hellfire Conspiracy is another wild ride that "brings to life a London roiling with secret leagues, deadly organizations, and hidden clubs" (Ron Bernas, Detroit Free Press).

This series is addictive

I have enjoyed the first 4 audio books in the series, and am impatient for the rest to be released. The narration is superb. The historical settings vivid. All with a sprinkle of dry humor

His best yet! Well done!

I have listened to all of the books thus far in the series. I believe this is the best one yet! Although they are all excellent books, this one seems to have moved to a different level. If you want to listen to a story with mystery, intrigue and no foul language, this is for you! The narrator does an excellent job as well, as usual. Being a Christian myself, I enjoy the references to Christianity and how it applies to us today as well as it did in the 19th century.

I'm love this series!!!

I just finished listening to the third book in this series and am so happy that I discovered it! It reminds me of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson! I for one do not get bored with the observations, thoughts, musings, and conversations, that allow me to be right there with the characters! Great writing, character and story development, and what an outstanding narrator! He is amazing, and is for this series, what George Guidall is for the Craig Johnson novels, e.g.! Love this narrator!!!
Am going to look right now if there are more books in this series!

Thoroughly entertaining

Will Thomas's Victorian crime solving story and characters are thoroughly entertaining. I initially didn't believe that two detectives could share or should share the same context but readers soon find themselves shaking off the "Holmes hangover" and find the Hellfire Conspiracy most enjoyable.

Excellent

This story awakens acute feelings and thoughts. It also has reasonable propositions on moral and political philosophies. The story and delivery were excellent with powerful passages.

Excellent

Great story! Love the narration. Love the historical character of the books. Llewelyn does get beat up AGAIN. TWICE. However at least he fares better this time.

Here We Go Again!

Will Thomas has delivered another outstanding story, and Antony Ferguson another stellar performance.
While this story seems to have slowed compared to the first three installments, this is still an absolute must listen/read!
The story is a good one, but seemed to be a little rushed, cliched, and not as well developed as Thomas' previous efforts. For example, by the time we hear of the actual "Hellfire Club" there isn't a lot of time to delve into the mechanization of that organization, nor does it have very much to do with the central plot. Nevertheless, one cannot help but get drawn in by this narrative.
There are no loose ends and the mystery is tied up as neatly as in the earlier books.
Enthralling!

Does not disappoint!

Cyrus Barker and Thomas have another riveting mystery. This story features a pedophile. At that time, they used the word ravishing for rape. Even when saying ravishing, it is said with demurely to not offend. This is a crime that effects Barker hard.

Llewelyn find out more about Barker past. It is not shocking as much as it confirms his current character. Llewelyn is still being distracted by attractive women and have come to enjoy fine cooking.

All the action and friends that you have come to expect are there for your enjoyment.

Lost 2 stars

Excellent novel until the last two chapters, which were unnecessary and preachy. Some writers don't know when to write THE END.

Great series - bad tech

Purchased the first three books in this newly acquired Audible series, which have been coming out about one a month. Loved them. Fourth book will not play on any of our family's 3 iPod Nano 7G devices. It will play on iOS devices (like my iPhone) so I can say it's another good one in the series. But you might want to know about the iPod problem.
