Publisher's summary

In the first installment of an exciting new series from Robert Ludlum, a teenage girl in Atlanta, an Army major in California, and a homeless man in Boston all die a horrible and painful sudden death from the devastating effects of an unknown virus. Lt. Col. Jonathan Smith, a combat doctor attached to the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases, is assigned to solve the mystery of the virus' abrupt appearance. But as the death count rapidly mounts by the dozens, hundreds, thousands - in America, and around the world - Smith finds himself trapped in a maelstrom of mystery and danger.

Hardly knowing where to turn or whom to trust, Smith assembles a ragtag private team to aid him in his search for the truth behind the deadly virus - a quest that will lead them to the highest levels and darkest corners of the globe.

Riveting

I don't normally review but this auidobook was amazing. In typical Ludlum style, I was kept right in the moment as it happened. The difference with this book is the range of characters. Not just the usual spy in trouble, but a mix of CIA, FBI, Government scoundrels and mad scientists collide with some international military professionals and and a virus that threatens life as we know it and an autistic genius who helps to save the day. Thrilling story narrated with the utmost professionalism. Recommended listening

Good Story Strains Belief

The frequent preposterous plot devices left me saying, "Oh, come on!" However, the book is very well narrated; Paul Michael's accents and character voices are very enjoyable.

Great story

I enjoyed this book quite well having been a long time fan of the Jason Bourne character. This story has a lot of the same kinds of excitement in it and while it's somewhat far fetched it's very entertaining and kept me interested the whole way through.

Did he predict the Corona Virus?

Just replace some names and the virus and you have a book about the Corona Virus.

Never again.

Where does The Hades Factor rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Ok

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ok

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Terrible

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Any additional comments?

I am very disappointed with this book, only because of the narrator. He used a single voice for all characters, so you cannot relate to the individuals. He didn't know how to pronounce names, nor could he pronounce many, many words. It lost everything that a audiobook should be. Will never buy another book that Michael Pritchard reads. That's a Big problem that audible has. If it's a series, stop changing the narrator. It ruins the series.

Great story, great narrator, sloppy editor

Fantastic story, kept me fully engaged even though I had previously read it (many years ago).

Narrator was also excellent.

What did let it down though was really lazy editing. I came across repeated sequences, sometimes only a sentence, sometimes longer, on at least a dozen occasions :(

First time listening to Ludlum

I'm easily distracted by poor production. As if someone goes back and inserts a narrated sentence and the tone and volume are different. Then there are multiple occasions where there is an exact narration of a sentence. The story was ok but there were times the secondary character (Randy) isn't mentioned even though the chapter is fast moving and has multiple characters running, she just seems to disappear. The time chronology or pacing seems off. In some sections hours go by where other sections only minutes go by. Not sure I'll listen to another.

Get rid of the music between chapters.

I found the 10-15 seconds of music between chapters annoying. The book was great. The narrator did a great job but the music took up too much time.
