Publisher's Summary

Re-assigned to a remote FBI branch office in rural Minnesota after the events in Hardline, disgraced FBI Agent Gavin Holder has nothing much to do except brood about the past and dream of revenge.

A bizarre music video that may or may not be a snuff film draws Holder back into action, investigating a corrupt local politician, a gang of outlaw bikers, an armed militia group, and a break-in at a research facility. As these seemingly unconnected cases resolve into focus, Holder uncovers the terrifying truth - and comes face-to-face with his nemesis, the cult leader called Father.

A classic crime thriller that you won’t want to put down.

What readers have to say about The Great Work:

"This remarkable sequel to Hardline will engage readers from the start, leave them agog with admiration at the genius of author R M Galloway and the perfection of a character - FBI Agent Gavin Holder - who has emotions regrets and integrity, rarely seen in a politically dominated organisation." - Amazon Reviewer

"Loved this story which kept me hooked up to the last minute and couldn't put it down." - Amazon Reviewer

"The plot is well developed in a methodical but logical manner, the two primary secondary characters are well developed and the story line is scary but realistic. The book is extremely well written from a technical writing perspective. It is a fun and engrossing read. I highly recommend The Great Work!" - Amazon Reviewer

Fast paced, enjoyable Listen.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.R.M. Galloway is a new author to me but I greatly enjoyed his book. This is the second book in the Gavin Holder series. Although I have not read the first book, I was not lost in this book as the events of the first book were efficiently recapped without taking away from the action of the story.
Gavin was sent to a remote FBI office as punishment for the events of the first book. Unknowingly the previous case followed him into exile, causing Holder to once again become a rogue agent as he investigates a murder. Holder finds himself entwined in a cult leader's plot involving corrupt politicians, a deadly disease, and archaic belief in supremacy.
The story is engaging, fast paced, and enjoyable. I plan on reading the first book to further acquaint myself with the series in anticipation of the next book.

It's gritty, funny, and it makes you think, "What

I totally enjoyed this book. It's gritty, funny, and it makes you think, "What?" This book is about Gavin Holder who is been re-assigned to an FBI office in rural Minnesota. But things are far from quiet and surreal here. Holder is faces with many things to deal with, but the worse on of all.....the cult leader call The Father. To find out what I am referring to ......Read the book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Fantastic Book 2

One of those stay up all nite, can't put it down and never will get the answer till the end books that make reading well worth it! Characters are very well developed (they become good friends), story line flows so well you cannot stop at any one place (hence you are up all night) and is just a fantastic read! Thanks, RM Galloway, you are one of the few who have fed my 'Listening Addiction'!!!
Don't miss this one...you will be anxiously awaiting the next in the series!!!

The Great Work by RM Galloway A Dark and Stormy Ad

I've listen a few murder mystery's but this is by far the best. But is it really a murder mystery? Or is it occult cult meets Armageddon? Or is it disgraced FBI agent out to kill his nemesis.
I don't know quite how to label it. Anyway, however you decide to label this story it is still the best darn book I have read in quite a while.
The main character Gavin Holder is a disgraced, flawed, alcoholic FBI agent who all his co-workers think is stupid and creepy. He is however a likeable guy, and you can't help but be on his side even when he does some outrageous things.
This book is fast, gritty and leaves little to the imagination at times, and comes to a shocking conclusion. I couldn't put it down, and I admit I stayed up till morning to finish it. I will be reading book three.
I was given a free book in return for an honest review for this book. Anne Rogers.

Gavin Holder's, FBI Agent, Stops Bioterror Attack

FBI agent Gavin Holder is back again and digging the hole of his demise even deeper. Transferred to a small, out of the way office, he is looking for revenge in any way he can get it. His drinking, bar fights, and illegal gun are only minor problems-he is searching for stolen ebola virus that is to be used in a bioterror attack. There are enough references to prior events that you won't be lost, but reading book 1, "Hardline", will fill in the picture more fully. I received this ARC from the author.

The Great Work

Great storyline. Gavin Holder, FBI agent, was reassigned to Minnesota as punishment. His partner was killed by his then girlfriend, Jackie Cole, and he witnessed the killing. Gavin gets a call from the Father who is responsible for his transfer. He wants to hunt him down. But he is on a case following the Mayor. He soon realizes the cases are connected. This is a fast paced thriller that keeps you wanting to read more. I did receive a free copy to give an honest review. I really enjoyed listening this novel and finished it rather quickly. I will read more from this author.

Wow what a book!...

This book is a very dark psychological thriller. I read the first book which sets the reader into the main characters mindset for this book. This is a stand alone book but I urge you to read the first book first if possible. Only because you can get a better understanding of the main character Gavin Holder. The author does explain what the character has experienced and why he is where he is but I think you are missing out if you don’t read Hardline first. I enjoyed both books. As a said before a very dark thriller.

The Great Work is a Great Noir Thriller

Gavin Holder, a disgraced FBI agent, gets sent to work in a remote office, pending an investigation into his previous actions. His current assignment is looking into the financial records of the small town's mayor - excitement galore (not). So Gavin spends his spare time drinking and dreaming of getting revenge on the person he feels ruined his career and life, Father . And when bizarre ritual killings start happening in this small college town, Gavin begins to wonder if Father just might be behind it all.
This book is second in a series, but the author fills in enough for you to be able to read it without needing to listen the previous book, Hardline, first. This book was action-packed, with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. It kept my attention, and it didn't take me long to finish it. Written in a film noir style, I enjoyed reading the book, and look forward to the next one!

Thrilling rollercoaster ride of a book

I was provided this book free for a true and honest review. Mr. Galloway is s new author for me and I truly enjoyed this book as it was an excellent thriller packed with action from start to finish. F.B.I. agent Gavin Holder has been exiled to Minnesota because his partner was killed under strange circumstances. Gavin has nothing to do in his new job and he begins drinking too much every night so that he can drown his guilt. He is assigned a case investigating the mayor. One of the other agents gets a strange music video which may involve a murder but he isn't sure so he asks Gavin to view it. From that point on Gavin becomes involved in the case that deals with espionage, dirty politics and the man nicknamed Father who Gavin knows quite well. This book is a roller coaster ride to an exciting and exhilarating finish. An awesome thriller that will keep the reader turning the pages long into the night.

Great intense Listen

What an excellent book. It is filled with mystery, suspense, drama and lots of action. I felt that the plot and characters were well developed. There were so many twist and turns that I was on the edge of my seat wanting to find out what would happen next and would it turn out OK. Gavin Holder is an FBI agent who has been reassigned for several reasons to a small town that does not have much crime, or at least it is supposed to be a low crime area. Holder is being pursued by someone from his past and this is not a good person.I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing what would happen next and who were to "good guys". I highly recommend this book. I read this as an advance copy and I highly recommend it.
