Publisher's summary

What would you do if your child went missing?

Meet retired cop Sam Prichard.

Sam Prichard was a cop, and a good one, until bullets took out the joint of his right hip. Now he's trying to learn to live without being a cop, getting to know his neighbors, learning to walk again and even ride a motorcycle. Life is bearable, barely, but then he gets asked to find a missing child, and the lure of getting back into some kind of police work is too much for him to resist. When he teams up with computer whiz Indiana Perkins, he suddenly becomes one of the best investigators he's ever even known.

Now he's found the missing child, but it's thrown him right into the middle of something that may be a drug war - or could be a chance to stop the next 9/11! There's no way out for Sam, so he's in for the ride of his life, but when the girl he's becoming fond of is suddenly drawn into the line of fire with her own little daughter, Sam is ready to forget all the rules and do whatever is necessary to win the day.

Slow start - feel good mystery

This is a 'feel-good' mystery with some romance, action, and a good storyline.

It is a short listen and the story isn't too deep that if you get distracted, you will be able to follow the plot.

What a great story

I usually listen to the same authors over and over. I had never read David Archer before and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for more of his work. If you like mysteries and thrillers, give it a listen!

Light and fun mystery!

The Sam Prichard series has real promise. The background is that cop Sam Prichard is shot in the hip and leg and is forced into retirement. He takes on a case for a neighbor who is the grandmother of a young girl who is missing. He is looking for computer help and finds it from a young lady, Indiana Perkins, who has a degree from MIT and 4 year old daughter. Sam gets a private detective license and starts the hunt. This book has lots of twists and turns. It is a thoroughly delightful listen. I'll definitely listen to the next book in the series.

Decent story, nothing special

For some reason, I was never really too engaged in this story. A little too predictable, a little too cute with a nice bow on top at the end. Nevertheless, the story was well-told. Will I pick up the next volume in this series? Perhaps, I haven't decided, but there are many books I will read before that one.
