Publisher's summary

Israeli art restorer and occasional secret agent Gabriel Allon has a problem. A prominent Swiss banker has called him to Switzerland to restore his Raphael. The problem is that Allon finds the banker dead in front of his Raphael, and he's the prime suspect. After some diplomatic intervention, Allon is freed. However, the banker's daughter, wracked by guilt, tells him that her father's cache of French Impressionist paintings, acquired under dubious circumstances during the Second World War, has been stolen by the murderers. Once Allon knows about the banker's wartime misdeeds, he attracts the attention of a secret Swiss organization dedicated to suppressing knowledge of all such crimes, and he is pursued by a shadowy killer known only as "the Englishman."

Couldn’t finish; accents too painful.

One of my favorite books, destroyed by the terrible accents employed within this book. Just such a tragedy.

Yet another marvelous Gabriel Alon book!

Silva is presenting a great story. Though you need not to read Gabriel Alon books in order ( I started reading one down the line :-)), the story of our agent makes more sense it read in order.. The main story is captivating and exciting.
It was a good narration too. I strongly suggest the book.
Moving to next one in series :-)

The speaker was trying to pronounce words in English with a dialect from the respective language. Strange!!!
The story started somwhat confusing but gained momentum.

Getting Better

2nd book is better than the first. Character development is richer. Good research in the points he makes.

Israeli Master Spy/Assassin Gabriel Allon Back in Harness

This is the 2nd book in Daniel Silva’s series about an art restorer and Israeli intelligence operative. This story revolves around stolen Jewish artworks in Switzerland. There is much interesting background information about Swiss collaboration with the Nazis, and the Swiss banking system, There’s plenty of action, and a few leaps of credulity in the plot, but Silva is a compelling story teller.
