Awful narration

The story was a bit naive and simplistic, but fine. The narration was beyond awful.

Cannot get past the first hour

The narration is so bad that I cannot continue. I probably only listened to the first 30 minutes. Pronunciation is problematic. The story is written with such an angry hand that I have trouble with it. I really hoped to like it.

Good story but ..,

Good story and well written but the reader is not appropriate for this story. She would be great for lighter and humorous story, but not here!

Escape the the Wind River Reservation

"The Eagle Catcher" is one in a series of Wind River Reservation mysteries by Margaret Coel. They are reminiscent of the great Tony Hillerman books, with a real respect for and feel of the reservation. Coel's characters are also compelling - you long to follow their story. There's a priest who comes to love this far-flung outpost to which he has been banished, and the Indian lawyer who is conflicted by her roots and her attachment to the priest. Other characters are well-drawn, and the joys and sorrows of life on the reservation make for excellent reading. And listening - the narrator does a fine job.

Unfortunately, Audible doesn't have all the books in this series. Do try one of these; I think you'll like them. "The Eagle Catcher" is a great place to begin the series. Maybe then a whole lot of us appreciative listeners can convince Audible to offer them all!

Better than expected

Margaret Coel created an interesting storyline with characters that developed nicely by the end. It took a while to adjust to the narrator’s style, but all in all she gave an acceptable perform bringing it all to life.

Well researched

I read some of her books 20 years ago and got the urge to pick them up again. I love the inside look into this Native culture, and mysteries that let us get to know and understand the characters. I can also relate to being the !one white person in a group of minorities. The plot involved uncovering their history and how these Jesuit priests recorded everything, which came to the rescue of this particular group of Indians. I recommend checking out these books.

Good Story, lousy engineering.

Great story. Problems with the sound and sometimes hearing other voices on it. the narrator did a great job of making you feel like you were there.

OHHH. I LIKE THIS AUTHOR!

Audible 'recommended ' this author's books because I've read everything by Tony and Anne Hillerman. AUDIBLE DID GOOD. GREAT NARRATION. Storyline was twisty, rollin' and kept me engaged. I'm now going to get all of Coel's books. Highly recommended!
