Publisher's Summary

In the heart of the African jungle, Bruce Curry is the leader of a mercenary band, with the dubious support of three white officers. His mission is to relieve a mining town cut off by fighting and to retrieve a priceless consignment of diamonds. Ranged against his ill-disciplined unit are bandits, guerillas, and hostile tribes. But there is another, even deadlier enemy: one of his own men.

"The pace would do credit to a Porsche, and the invention is as bright and explosive as a fireworks display." (Sunday Telegraph)

Okay

An easy read, but not up to standards that Smith sets in some of his later works.

Very enjoyable.

The Dark Of The Sun was vintage Wilbur Smith back when he was a good writer. Before he got so obsessed in putting perveted sex in his novels and delving into Egypt. Not as well written as When The Lion Feeds or A TimeTo Die, but I liked It
