Story
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

Never a doubt. Never a mistake. Always for justice. Never for revenge. She's the person you hire when you need something fixed-permanently. With a strict set of criteria, she evaluates every request and chooses only a few. No more than one job per country, per year. She will only step in if it's clear that justice will not be served any other way. Her jobs are completed with skill and precision, and never result in inquiry or police investigation. The Fixer is invisible - and quite deadly.

The detective assigned to the case, Conor Reid, swore to protect the sisters from then on. Beth moved on, throwing herself fully into the art world, running the family gallery, and raising a beautiful daughter with her husband Pete. Kate, instead, retreated into herself and took to the skies as a pilot, always on the run.

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Story
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Story
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Interesting, funny, cute and a good mystery
I loved both of the books in this series that are available on audible.
They are a lighter read than some mysteries and that was actually a unexpectedly enjoyable change.
The little bits of humor sprinkled generously throughout the book kept me smiling.
A refreshing and engaging twist on your typical who-done-it.

Delightful read! I will listen to it again.
it was a fun book! I found myself laughing early on. It is truly endearing, the characters are imperfect which makes it more entertaining.

Good Cozy Mystery Series
This is the second in this series.
The story is well written and the characters are unique. The narration took a bit to get used to. Knowing that it is the author narrating helps because I know she is getting the characters right.
Anyway, the story is delightful and I will be eager to read more.

Good read!
amateur-sleuth, detective, canadian, cozy-mystery, crime-fiction, sisters, family-dynamics, family-drama, family-business, murder, murder-investigation, winery, criminologist, sly-humor, situational-humor, verbal-humor, suspense, snarky, thriller, grief, grieving*****
The "Nose" in question is that of an incredible wine connoisseur. The silver is a clue that would be a spoiler.
Any older woman who is comfortable in her own skin will totally appreciate Cait Morgan!
Bud Anderson (whose wife was recently murdered by mistake) is a mutual "Plus One" with Cait (forensic psychologist), and he is invited by his online "grief buddy" to come to the winery/inn for a fantastic foodie event and brings Cait with him. And to prove that the buddy's sister was murdered, not death by suicide. Imaginative twists and red herrings are great, but come for the mystery and stay for the laughs!
I always feel that you can't go wrong with the author as narrator because only they know how to do the snarks effectively.

I like this series. Fun listening, characters of interest, mystery
death and a spiraling who
done it plot.
Included are oddball trivia, which I like and sometimes stop to google.
