Publisher's Summary

For fans of humorous mysteries in the style of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams!

Eli Carter is a smart (yet strange) guy trapped in a dead-end career.

When he meets smooth-talking Khan Hart, a self-proclaimed necromancer, he's given the opportunity to become a hero.

As soon as he takes the job working for Ghost Hackers, Eli's life takes a turn for the paranormal. For starters, something under his bed is trying to kill him.

Now Eli must team up with Khan, face down his fears, and kick the butt of one very strange ghost.

Everything I Expected and More

I was previously aware of the store as I read the kindle version a while back. As soon as I saw it on Audible I had to jump on it. It did not disappoint. The narrator was perfect and brought the characters to life. This is becoming a favorite series of mine and I look forward for the next audible as it is on my short list to listen to some time this week.

Even more fun out loud :)

This series is a unique smoothie of humour, angst, ghosts, hope & confusion ground up ruthlessly with delightful shots of exuberance & c'est la vie. For the young at heart.

The narrator did a superb job! He really did bring the story to life! This is a great lol, unique characters, and mystery! I do recommend the audio just for the fun of the narrator!

Ghost Busters Revisited?

The introduction is fabulous and sets you up for the geekdom to come. Then you get a bit of insight into our "hero" and start to wonder about his issues of self-worth . . . Set in a somewhat dystopian immediate future, the delightful narration (I enjoyed the AUDIO version) keeps you involved with the action as we discover more about this world and its inhabitants. But although there are hints about what the world has become and how this came to be, they are only that and this rather (potentially) important part of the story is largely omitted, at least from this book.

While the first of a series, multiple loose threads notwithstanding, this tale is complete in and of itself and ends on a cheerful note. Sorry if you consider that a spoiler, but this is basically comedy (think Ghost Busters, which gets a sideways allusion) albeit with dark--VERY dark--overtones.

Quick and fun listen

This is a fun listen to a good cozy mystery story. It's only 3 hours so perfect for a road trip or while working in the yard. Great audio accompaniment to a great Angela Pepper book. Now on to book two!

Funny!

Would you listen to The Cat Who Went Bump in the Night again? Why?

I already have and I will again. I was laughing like an idiot listening to it as I walked. I was okay with the strange looks from passers by.

What did you like best about this story?

The Humor and the Characters. Eli is socially clueless, and Khan is pretty much his opposite.

What does John Pirhalla bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I did read the book! The narrator's voices, particularly Khan, are great and match what I expected the characters to sound like.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh. Perhaps I am easily amused, but I laughed a lot.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to book 2 and 3 coming out and hope the author writes more!
